NBC is adding another big name to its NBA broadcast crew.

The network announced on Tuesday that Vince Carter will join its coverage as a studio analyst for the 2025-26 season, working alongside Carmelo Anthony.

In July 2024, NBCUniversal and the NBA agreed to an 11-year deal to broadcast NBA regular-season and playoff games across multiple NBC platforms, beginning with the 2025-26 season. The league will return to the network after a more than 20 year absence.

Carter played a record 22 seasons in the NBA and is known best for his time with the Toronto Raptors (1998-2004) and New Jersey Nets (2004-2009). He was an eight-time NBA All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection, 1999 NBA Rookie of the Year and 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion, and he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024.

Vince Carter NBC role, explained

On Tuesday, NBC announced that the network is hiring Carter as a studio analyst alongside Anthony for the 2025-26 season. He will be in studio one or more nights per week through the regular season and playoffs.

“I could not be more excited and appreciative to have the opportunity to be a part of the historic return of the NBA to NBC and now Peacock,” Carter said in the statement. “I am truly looking forward to joining Melo in the studio and the rest of the broadcast team overall, as we embark on bringing NBA fans best-in-class coverage of the league they love.”

Carter joins a star-studded crew that will be part of the network's first season broadcasting NBA games since the 1999-2000 season. NBC has also hired Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford as game analysts, Anthony will be part of the network's studio coverage, and Michael Jordan will be a special contributor. Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle will serve as the main play-by-play broadcasters.

Carter has experience serving in a broadcast role. Since retiring in 2020, he's served as an NBA and college basketball analyst for ESPN and Turner Sports. He was also a basketball analyst for NBCUniversal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

How old is Vince Carter?

Carter is 48 years old and played in the NBA from 1998-2020. His 22 seasons in the Association are tied with LeBron James for the most in NBA history.

When did Vince Carter retire?

Carter retired in 2020 after his age-43 season with the Atlanta Hawks. This season, his jersey was retired by both the Raptors and the Nets, the teams he spent the bulk of his NBA career with.

Carter was the fifth overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Raptors after a decorated college career at North Carolina, where he led the Tar Heels to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 1997 and 1998. He also had a successful international career, winning the gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics while leading Team USA in scoring with 14.8 points per game.
