The Minnesota Vikings reportedly have an edge rusher available for trade and the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles are expected to have interest.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Vikings still have edge rusher Jonathan Greenard on the trade block, which was reported last week.
"Vikings EDGE Jonathan Greenard is a name to watch this week. A lot of teams have been in on this one. Will likely involve a Day 2 pick if a trade gets done," Fowler reported.
Fowler adds that teams are aware Greenard wants a new contract, so that could complicate matters, but it could also lower Greenard's price in a trade.
"One variable: Teams know he wants a new contract as part of the deal. He’s got two years and $38M left on current deal," Fowler added.
Greenard's desire for a new deal is what has the Vikings considering trading him in the first place. Minnesota doesn't have a great cap space situation, either, so freeing up more money is also a reason they could trade him.
According to Easton Butler of Packers Report, the Patriots, Commanders and Eagles are all expected to be in the mix for Greenard.
"Expect the Patriots, Eagles and Commanders," Butler wrote in response to Fowler's report on Greenard.
All three teams make sense for Greenard, who is a former Pro Bowler who has tallied eight or more sacks three times in his career, including 12.5 and 12 in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
The Patriots need an edge rusher to pair with Harold Landry as K'Lavon Chaisson prepares to hit free agency.
The Commanders have Von Miller set to hit the open market, but they need more help along the edge even if the veteran returns.
The Eagles need two edge rushers. It's possible one of those will come from the re-signing of Jaelan Phillips, but he isn't guaranteed to return as a pending free agent.
