Touching video showed paramedics helped deliver a baby inside an RV at a notorious Los Angeles homeless encampment.
In the video obtained by The California Post, personnel with the Los Angeles Fire Department arrive at the encampment in Sun Valley to help delivery the child on Monday night.
At one point, LAFD paramedics swaddled the baby whose arms and head are moving all around following the child’s birth.
One of the paramedics then takes the baby inside an ambulance nearby to get warm until the mother arrives a short time later, via a gurney.
Inside the ambulance, the member of LAFD holds the baby close, comforting the child before the mother is in a position to hold the baby herself, video shows.
The paramedics then hand the newborn baby to the mother, who holds her child close, peeking at one point, under the blanket, to see her baby’s face.
The mother and child were then rushed to the hospital for care. It is unclear the details of the child’s birth or their gender.
The California Post reached out to the LAFD about the delivery.
Firefighter Jennifer Middleton, public service officer with the LAFD, confirmed to us that on the night of March 9th at around10:45pm paramedics responded to an obstetrics call in the 12,000 block of Branford Street in Sun Valley.
The call was for an approximately 35 year old female who had delivered a baby. There was no confirmation as to where the baby was delivered in connection to an RV.
However, she was able to confirm that a mother and her baby were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions were unknown.
There are roughly 72,000 homeless people in LA County, according to 2025 data from the LA Homeless Services Authority.

“In the middle of an excessive heat warning, we brought more Angelenos inside and removed RVs,” Bass said. “We’ve brought more than 3,000 Angelenos inside through over 60 Inside Safe operations and we will continue this work with our partners as we break the cycle of homelessness in L.A.”
In the same announcement Councilmember Imelda Padilla said that “Addressing homelessness in Sun Valley’s industrial corridor, where people go to work everyday is a top priority for our office.”
“It is important to us to provide a safe environment where RV encampments have created dangerous conditions for the community.”
She added, “We are grateful to partner with Mayor Karen Bass, along with city and state departments to ensure that our unhoused neighbors receive immediate support and access to housing. Our goal is to move people into interim housing quickly, offering them safety and the resources needed to regain stability.”
“This approach not only enhances community safety but also provides a path to lasting change for those in need.”
Yet, two years later, homeless encampments like the one the mother delivered her child in, still exist.
The California Post reached out to Mayor Bass’s office and Padilla’s office for comment.
