Brooklyn Beckham Breaks Silence on Rumors of Feud With Parents Victoria, David Beckham
Victoria Beckham didn’t wannabe in the red.
Yet, in the early days of bringing her fashion line to life, the Spice Girls alum confessed there was a massive learning curve in learning how to run a business—which saddled her and husband David Beckham with some hefty temporary debt.
“We were tens of millions in the red,” she said in the new Netflix series Victoria Beckham. “Yes, I'm going home to my husband, but I'm going home to my business partner as well. So, I would talk to him about it, I had to. He was invested. And I hated it. I absolutely hated it.”
But in her husband of over 25 years, Victoria had an understanding partner.
“We both sat there and we looked at what I'd invested,” David, 50, recalled, “and I think part of that conversation broke my heart, because Victoria is a proud woman. When we met, she was a lot richer than me. she actually bought our first house in Hartfordshire, known as Beckingham Palace.”
He continued, “So for her to have to come to me and say, 'We need some more money, the business needs more money,' that was hard for both of us. Because I didn't have the money to keep doing this. And eventually I was like, ‘This cannot continue.’”
For Victoria, it felt like “the entire house was crashing down,” noting she needed outside investment before she lost her business.

Plus, the business needed to tamp down on overspending—with Victoria admitting the amount of waste in those early years is now “mind-blowing.”
As for what they spent money on, she recalled, “Bizarre things like flying chairs from one side of the world to another.”
“I hear it now, and I'm horrified, but I allowed that to happen,” she noted. “And I think part of the problem was, people were really afraid to tell me no.”

And when it comes to David—with whom Victoria shares kids Brooklyn Beckham, 26, Romeo Beckman, 23, Cruz Beckham, 20, and Harper Beckham, 14—this is not the first time she’s spoken about how much of a difference his support made to her.
“He believed in me when a lot of people didn’t," the 51-year-old told ELLE in an interview published Sept. 18. "He invested in me. At times I’ve been a laughingstock, people not taking my business seriously, but he always believed in me."
