A veteran Suffolk County cop admitted he moonlighted as a pimp as part of a sleazy Long Island prostitution ring, prosecutors said.
Popo pimp George Trimigliozzi, 56, copped to co-managing a Holbrook brothel at American Girls Spa for nearly five years as part of a sordid sex ring that allegedly also included a local gym teacher, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office announced this week.
The 18-year police veteran, one of three ring leaders who pleaded guilty to corruption and prostitution charges last week, was a six-time “Cop of the Month” before getting busted. He’s now facing up to two years behind bars.
“These guilty pleas represent accountability for those who violated the public’s trust and engaged in organized criminal activity,” Suffolk DA Ray Tierney said in a statement.
“While it is always disappointing when public servants betray their oaths, these resolutions demonstrate that my office will ensure serious consequences for corrupt actions,” he said.
Prosecutors said sex ring leader Frank Saggio, 61, and his 33-year-old mistress, Dana Ciardullo, ran three brothels on Long Island between 2019 and last year, including the Holbrook spot co-managed by Trimigliozzi and a West Babylon location called Tunnel of Love.
Saggio, a reputed mob associate whose ritzy Fire Island pad was seized by authorities, agreed to pay nearly $1.9 million in forfeiture and faces a prison sentence of two to six years when he returns to court on Dec. 18, the DA’s office said.
Ciardullo agreed to a six-month prison sentence when she returns to court Nov. 12, they said.
The trio charged sex workers between $6,000 and $12,000 a month to operate at the brothels.
Trimigiozzi allegedly ran American Girls Spa with disgraced Islip School District gym teacher Steven Arey, 53, who is charged in the scam but has not been convicted nor pleaded guilty.
Arey, a 26-year employee of the Islip school system before getting fired, was indicted on charges of enterprise corruption and 27 counts of promoting prostitution.
Meanwhile, prosecutors said that on March 19, 2021, Trimigliozzi abandoned his post and sped to the Holbrook brothel at 90 mph to respond to a report of a robbery at the location.
The ex-cop and his accomplices, who were busted in April, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of enterprise corruption, prompting prostitution and other charges, prosecutors said.
Trimigliozzi, who also pleaded guilty to official misconduct, is facing an additional 30-day sentence after also pleading guilty to unlawful imprisonment for holding a woman captive in his personal car.
He is due to be sentenced on Nov. 12.
