A disheartening update has been provided regarding the former WWE and AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho's future in Tony Khan's promotion. The report has been dropped just before Worlds End 2025.

Chris Jericho was one of the first wrestlers to be signed by AEW during the company's inception in 2019. He also became the first-ever World Champion in the promotion. However, The Ocho has not been on TV since April 2025. According to reports, Jericho's contract with Tony Khan's promotion will be up soon, and he has also been rumored for a WWE return.

Meanwhile, a new report provides an update on Jericho's AEW status. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, when discussing the ongoing creative plans in the company, Jericho has not come up in those plans. Sapp also noted that The Ocho usually discusses his creative plans with the company President, Tony Khan, directly.

Considering the report, it seems unlikely that Jericho will be seen in AEW anytime soon. More updates will be provided regarding his status.

WWE legend believes Chris Jericho is done with AEW

Chris Jericho might be done with AEW, according to the WWE legend Matt Hardy. Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast recently, Matt stated that Jericho has done everything creatively in Tony Khan's promotion, and the fanbase may also not be up for a return:

"I almost think it's one of those things where I just think the AEW fanbase has had their share of Jericho in many ways, and I think creatively he's done pretty much everything he can do there. I mean, unless they want to put him back into the main event mix, but I don't think the fanbase would be up for that, even though they could probably make that work in some capacity," Matt said.

Fans will have to wait and see what the future has in store for Y2J.
