Varun Chakaravarthy's googly bamboozles Marco Jansen in IND vs SA 2025 3rd T20I

Team India leg-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy left South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen clueless with a googly in the ongoing third T20I on Sunday, December 14, in Dharamsala. Varun rearranged Jansen's stumps, with the lanky left-arm seamer walking back for a single-figure score.

The dismissal came in the 16th over of South Africa's innings after Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav brought on Varun to complete his spell. The ball landed on length outside off, and Jansen, trying to defend, saw the ball sneak in through bat and pad to hit the stumps. With this, the left-arm seamer's seven-ball stay came to an end, reducing the Proteas to 77-7.

The third T20I of the five-game series also saw Varun, who is the top-ranked T20I bowler, complete 50 wickets in the format.

Following a wayward bowling performance in the second T20I in Mullanpur, the Men in Blue were on the money from the outset in Dharamsala. India's new-ball bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana made the spicy conditions count as the South African batters struggled to gain any momentum. The tourists were reduced to 7-3 and then to 30-4.

Chakaravarthy was the most economical bowler with figures of 4-0-11-2, conceding runs at just 2.75 per over. Arshdeep, Rana and Kuldeep Yadav also picked up two wickets each, while Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube accounted for one apiece.

Only three South African batters made it to double figures, with Aiden Markram's 61 accounting for more than half of the 117 they posted. Donovan Ferreira (20) and Anrich Nortje (12) were the other two to cross the 10-run mark.
