Utah's Jackson Bennee earns 2-way player comparison to Travis Hunter

Fox play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson pulled out the biggest name he could: Travis Hunter.

That's who he compared Utah Utes star Jackson Bennee to on Saturday as Bennee tried to help his squad hang with Texas Tech in a ranked matchup.

Bennee had made an early interception, and he had a touchdown reception called back due to penalty.

He's a true two-way player, and he's clearly very good at it.

Bennee is one of three regulars who go both ways for Utah, along with Smith Snowden and Lander Barton.

“We try to get the balance in practice as close as we can to what we predict the balance in the game is going to be,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham told the Associated Press. “We have a good idea going into every game what the ratio is going to be (for) offensive snaps and defensive snaps, and we try to mimic that in practice. We also have to divide the meeting time up as well, so it’s a balancing act.”

Bennee already had two interceptions on the season entering Saturday before adding his third.

“I really love having the ball in my hands as well as making some tackles,” Bennee told the AP. “I love all of it. Any opportunity that I can get, I’m going to take it.”

To compare anyone to the Heisman Trophy-winning Hunter is immense praise.

But Bennee is certainly a baller, and it's cool to see the two-way trend make it to other programs, too.
