USMNT World Cup roster leaks: Gio Reyna, Seb Berhalter included in squad, Diego Luna left off

59 minutes ago 2

With World Cup rosters being announced around the world, one team that has yet to share its full squad is one of the host nations, the United States.

USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino will be leading his first-ever World Cup, and this year’s tournament carries significant pressure for the Stars and Stripes. Along with playing matches in their home country, many of the team’s players have been on this stage before without a major result.

With Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie both 27 heading into this summer’s World Cup, this may be their last chance at peak form. Pochettino will have to balance their needs while assembling a squad capable of competing with some of the world’s best.

Here’s the latest report on who has made Pochettino’s roster for this summer’s tournament.

Here is the list of names that have been mentioned regarding a spot on the U.S. national team.

Players on squad

After months of speculation about whether or not his name would make Pochettino's final roster, Gio Reyna will reportedly be active for this summer's squad. As a sub for Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, Reyna has one goal through 19 matches for the German team this year.

The son of former USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter, Seb Berhalter, was also reported to make the final squad. Berhalter has accumulated six goals and four assists in 13 matches with the Vancouver Whitecaps this season, along with two assists during the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup for Team USA.

Leeds United winger Brenden Aaronson will also reportedly be suiting up for the USMNT in June. Through 36 matches with the Premier League side, Aaronson has tallied four goals and five assists, along with a goal and assist during last summer's Gold Cup.

Former Arsenal reserve and USMNT starting goalie Matt Turner will also be present at the World Cup, per "The Atheltic." Presently on the New England Revolution, after stints in England with the Gunners, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace, Turner has stopped 57 shots this season, which is currently fifth in the MLS.

Finally, center back Mark McKenzie was the final player on the early report to make Pochettino's summer squad. McKenzie plays for French side Toulouse, for which he has two assists through 29 matches this season.

Players left off squad

Despite being featured in upcoming World Cup advertisements, midfielder Diego Luna will reportedly not be on the pitch for the Stars and Stripes this summer. In nine games for the MLS's Real Salt Lake this season, Luna has accumulated four goals and an assist. In the Concacaf Gold Cup last summer, the 22-year-old put three goals in the back of the net and also dished out two assists.

One of Luna's Real Salt Lake teammates, Zavier Gozo, also will reportedly not be present for the USMNT for the World Cup. Gozo turned 19 years old this past March, so the youngster still has some time to make a U.S. roster at a future World Cup. In 2026 for RSL, Gozo has six goals and three assists through 13 matches.
