While USA and Mexico battled it out on the Daikin Park diamond in Houston, some of their fans were duking it out in the venue’s stands.
During the the teams’ matchup in the World Baseball Classic Monday night, several people wearing green and red, and white and blue were captured on video getting into a wild fistfight.
It’s unclear what sparked the fracas, but the footage seems to show three Mexican supporters had some issue with a man in a USA shirt.
The guys could be seen exchanging words, before they each threw haymakers at one another.
The melee lasted several moments before it appeared to be broken up when the stars-and-stripes-clad fan was tossed down a few rows of stairs.
However, when he got to his feet, the fight resumed — this time with another US supporter stepping in.
More punches were thrown — but, fortunately, it seems cooler heads prevailed seconds later.
So far, no word if the combatants faced any kind of retribution from law enforcement or stadium officials for their behavior.
As for the action on the field, Team USA used brilliant performances from Paul Skenes and Aaron Judge to win 5–3.
