US Open champion Wyndham Clark says ex cheated on him with Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield

US Open champion Wyndham Clark finally opened up about the origin of his past beef with Baker Mayfield.

Clark just won the US Open last week, and while he speaks to many press outlets about the prestigious accomplishment, he is sharing a little bit about his past. The pro golfer told Barstool Sports that one of the toughest "matchups" of his life was actually back in college when his girlfriend cheated on him with the now-NFL quarterback. 

“I’m trying to decide if I should tell the story,” Clark said on the Pardon My Take podcast. “Alright screw it. I don’t care people already hate me. No, it’s not that bad. My PR team is here… They prepped me for everything, they didn’t prep me for this one.

“My girlfriend at the time cheated on me with Baker Mayfield," he said.

In 2016, Clark wrote a tweet that read, "I hate Baker Mayfield."

However, Clark's perspective has changed since college about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, "But here’s what I will say… I am actually a Baker fan now. I think he’s a homie. "

“You know, that’s your initial response, ‘screw that guy.’ But really, it’s screw the — you know. I’m a Baker fan, no, but that’s where it came from,” he concluded.

Mayfield has not yet spoken out about the allegations, and Clark did not name the ex-girlfriend.

The NFL quarterback who was drafted into the league back in 2018 has been married to Emily Mayfield since 2019. They met in 2017 and was engaged six months later. 

As for Clark, he is now in a relationship with Emily Tanner.  On Sunday, he won his second U.S. Open when he defeated Sam Burns by one stroke. He dubbed Tanner his "good-luck charm" per Golfweek and they shared a kiss on the green after his win.
