A US military aircraft had a freaky chase encounter with a “super-hot” orb during a nighttime search mission just last year, the newly released UFO files show.

The bizarre incident unfolded when multiple military personnel were carrying out the search in a mountainous region close to an apparent government site, according to a heavily redacted document released by the Pentagon on Friday.

At one point, an official described seeing “a possible aircraft on the horizon moving away to the west,” the file reads.

Another then confirmed the sighting, saying “they spotted an orb… described as ‘super-hot’ hovering at ground level.”

The orb then apparently headed east at a “high rate of speed and then broke into two objects,” according to the file.

The document also details how one aircraft was “unable to match speed” and “broke off pursuit.”

“The co-pilot reported seeing under NVG something emerge from the two objects and then travel in a different direction and high rate of speed,” the document stated.

Minute later, officials noted that “two orbs appeared to flare up and remain stationary side by side. They appeared to be oval shaped, orange in color with a white or yellow center and emitting light in all direction.”

“After a few seconds, a third orb flared up below the  two, and then another one below that one until there were four or five in total below the original two,” the file continued.

“After a few seconds the orbs began to flare down in reverse order while appearing to be stationary until visual was lost.”

It wasn’t immediately clear exactly where the apparent encounter occurred.

The chilling description was among the trove of 162 files made public when the Department of War unveiled its highly anticipated website dedicated solely to UFOs.
