The Philadelphia Eagles have officially identified their backup quarterback for the 2026 NFL season, as the Birds landed veteran signal-caller Andy Dalton in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. Dalton joins the Eagles after spending the past three seasons in Carolina, primarily in a reserve role.
Philadelphia will be Dalton’s sixth NFL franchise, as he also previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints. Most notably, Dalton made three Pro Bowls with the Bengals.
Philadelphia Eagles updated QB depth chart
Now, Dalton will slide into the second spot on Philadelphia's depth chat behind starting signal-caller Jalen Hurts. Tanner McKee, who served as Hurts' backup in 2025, is also still on the roster.
