You might think that the waiver wire ahead of Week 6 is not worth your time. It can be easy to believe that there is no more fantasy talent out there, but that is simply not the case.
Every week brings new issues and opportunities that cause players to arise. That is certainly the case heading into Week 6.
Something to look out for is players coming off the bye week; you can grab them right off waivers before Tuesday, since they do not have a game.
Keep reading for our fantasy football Week 6 waiver wire report.
Best fantasy waiver wire pickups Week 6
NEW- Theo Johnson, TE, Giants (11% rostered in Yahoo Fantasy leagues)
The TE position has been plagued by injuries, leaving a lot of managers in need. Theo Johnson is widely available and has been excellent these past weeks.
Since Jaxson Dart has taken over as QB1 for the Giants, Johnson is heavily involved in the offense. In Weeks 4 and 5, Johnson has been targeted 12 times by Dart. He's caught 9 passes for 50 yards and 3 touchdowns.
With no Malik Nabers and now Darius Slayton expected to miss time, this only opens up more opportunity for Johnson to produce. Theo Johnson FAAB: 10%
Rico Dowdle, RB, Panthers (58%)
Of course, we're going to list him, but we're going to keep a level head.
We just witnessed the best game of Rico Dowdle's career in Week 5 vs the Miami Dolphins. Dowdle shined in his RB1 role with Chuba Hubbard (calf) out.
Dowdle was given 26 touches, and he turned that into 234 scrimmage yards and 1 touchdown.
If Hubbard is to miss more time, you'd regret not going after Dowdle in any league where he's still on the waiver wire.
In Week 6, the matchup gets even sweeter as the Panthers face off against the Dallas Cowboys, who consistently allow productive fantasy performances to fantasy skill players.
Even if/when Hubbard returns, Dowdle should supply many flex-worthy weeks during byes, on top of remaining the No. 1 handcuff. Rico Dowdle FAAB: 15%
Mason Taylor, TE, Jets (13%)
With the TE position slowly dwindling with injuries, a lot of managers need one for fantasy football. You can see Mason Taylor's growth within this Jets offense.
Taylor, who was just targeted 3 times combined in Weeks 1 and 2, was just targeted 12 times in Week 5. The Jets were down, but this is a trend that started a couple of weeks ago.
Each and every week, he's been more involved in the game plan. It's a tough matchup in Week 6, but then the following two weeks are golden opportunities. Mason Taylor FAAB: 5%
Kendrick Bourne, WR, 49ers (4%)
Heading into TNF, the talk was all about who the 49ers were missing. After all, Brock Purdy, Jauan Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall were all ruled out. With George Kittle still on IR, who was Mac Jones going to throw to?
Kendrick Bourne, that's who: Bourne was spectacular in Week 5, catching 10 of his 11 targets for 142 yards.
This sort of production was clearly a result of the injuries, but it is not guaranteed for those other pass catchers to return.
If we'll expect the Week 6 injury reports similar for the Niners, Bourne is a must-grab and offers a great start. We'll know more before Tuesday night's waiver runs. Kendrick Bourne FAAB: 5%
Sean Tucker, RB, Buccaneers (13%)
We received an update on Bucky Irving, and it sounds like he's going to miss at least two weeks with a shoulder issue. This obviously propels Rachaad White into that RB1 role, but he's rostered at 74%.
Sean Tucker, who is widely available, is set to take over that RB2 role for the Tampa Bay offense. While White will be the starter, it's still going to be a committee.
After all, White lost his job to Irving because he was purely a one-dimensional RB. The receiving work was amazing; however, he was not the most efficient rusher.
Tucker still offers some upside and will get an increase in his workload for however long Irving must sit out. Sean Tucker FAAB: 5%
Tutu Atwell, WR, Rams (1%)
This seems like something that happens every season, but Tutu Atwell has seemingly earned the trust of Matthew Stafford.
In Week 4, Atwell caught the game-winning bomb touchdown, but the volume was not there. However, in Week 5, Atwell saw his targets double from 2 to 4.
With these 4 targets, he caught 2 balls for 72 yards. While Atwell is still the WR3 who heavily relies on the deep plays, he's an interesting start if you need a flex play due to injuries or bye weeks. Tutu Atwell FAAB: 5%

QB Fantasy Streaming Pickups
Bryce Young, Panthers (19%)
It's quite simple: Young plays the Dallas Cowboys, and anyone who plays the Cowboys is just about an automatic start. Dallas is allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing QBs.
TE Fantasy Streaming Pickups
Brenton Strange, Jaguars (48%)
Strange has quietly been a consistent play at the TE position. In Week 6, he'll take on the Seattle Seahawks, who allow the most fantasy points per game to the position.
Team Defense Fantasy Streaming Pickups
Tennessee Titans D/ST (0%)
While the Titans have been a disaster, their defense has still been battling. In Week 6, they'll face Geno Smith, who leads the NFL in thrown interceptions.
Kicker Fantasy Streaming Pickups
Cairo Santos, Bears (1%)
The Bears' offense has started to find their groove in the last few games. They're coming off a bye and will take on the Commanders in what should be a fairly high-scoring game.

Week 6 Fantasy Waiver Wire stashes & watch list
Quarterback waiver pickups to stash
- Mac Jones, 49ers (4%)
- Dillon Gabriel, Browns (4%)
If Mac Jones were the full-time starter, he'd be an every-week fantasy start with the way he's running this Niners offense. He's a stash and start until Purdy returns from injury.
Dillon Gabriel looked decent in his debut. While the TDs carried his fantasy output, he still offers upside as the starter and should be a stash.
Running Back waiver pickups to stash
- Cam Akers, Vikings (0%)
- Jaydon Blue, Cowboys (13%)
- NEW- Kimani Vidal, Chargers (0%)
- NEW- Hassan Haskins, Chargers (0%)
- NEW- Kenneth Gainwell, Steelers (36%)
With Jordan Mason being banged up, Cam Akers might take some work in this offense. Zavier Scott fumbled, and Akers has a rich history with Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Blue is active for the first time this season due to Miles Sanders being banged up. The Cowboys staff loves Blue, and he's worth a stash.
NEW- Haskins and Vidal may have more touches coming their way as Omarion Hampton may miss time with an ankle injury. If Hampton's injury keeps him out for the long term, the Chargers may look to add someone else.
NEW- Gainwell was spectacular in Dublin before the bye week. He may be out there on waivers and is a good stash in case Jaylen Warren misses any more time.
Wide Receiver waiver pickups to stash
- Demarcus Robinson, 49ers (10%)
- Isaiah Bond, Browns (6%)
- Ryan Flournoy, Cowboys (0%)
Robinson was also heavily involved in the Niners' offense, with the injuries plaguing them. If the injury report remains large, Robinson becomes another viable play.
Bond did not have the best fantasy performance, but he was still targeted 7 times by Gabriel. This means something for the future, and Bond is worth having on your bench.
Flournoy caught 6 of his 9 targets for 114 yards in Week 5. It's hard ot know if this will stick, and once Lamb returns, there is not much value.
Tight End waiver pickups to stash
- Jake Tonges, 49ers (4%)
- Harold Fannin Jr., Browns (27%)
Similar to the other Niners pass catchers in this report, Tonges was amazing in Week 5 with the opportunity. He was targeted 11 times by Mac Jones and even found the end zone.
Fannin is a tough player to feel comfortable starting, but the value is there. Gabriel clearly liked targeting the TE position in his debut. Njoku might've had the great game, but it could be Fannin some weeks.
