After bouncing around the league, Landry Shamet seems to have found a long-term home with the New York Knicks. Before the 2025-26 season, Shamet was in limbo because he was competing for a contract. When Malcolm Brogdon abruptly retired, Shamet got his opportunity to play for the Knicks.
Thankfully for Shamet, head coach Mike Brown valued his impact as a shooter and a positive defender. He played a crucial role as the season progressed, eventually becoming one of the first players off the bench during their championship run as the team's resident knockdown shooter.
Landry Shamet finally lands a long-term contract with the Knicks
Shamet might have only averaged six points per game in the entirety of the Playoffs, but he was a key member of the rotation. He shone mostly in the Knicks' Eastern Conference Finals series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was tremendous for the Knicks, as he shot at a historic 91.7% clip, making 11 of his 12 three-point attempts against Cleveland.
He was still quite impactful in the NBA Finals, but most of the spotlight went to Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and OG Anunoby. Despite that, Shamet knew how to play his role, which has now earned him a spot on the team for years to come.

Shamet signed a four-year contract worth $24 million to stay in New York. Of course, there is a solid structure with this deal, as only the first two years are fully guaranteed, while the other two have partial guarantees.
Despite potential problems in the latter two years, this is a deal that Shamet has been working on. He has impressed people all over the Knicks organization, including Knicks team president Leon Rose.
"We are thrilled to have Landry back with our organization. His shooting, defensive versatility, and willingness to do whatever the team needs made him an invaluable part of our championship success last season. We are excited to continue this journey together," Rose said in a statement acknowledging Shamet's contract extension.
Moving forward, Shamet will play a key role for the Knicks as their best spot-up shooter. He is a crucial player for the Knicks' system under Brown, and he will look to contribute to the team's title defense in the 2026-27 season.
