The San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins have been linked together in recent years for a variety of reasons, from Mike McDaniel, Raheem Mostert, and their high-flying offensive playstyle.
But now, heading into the 2026 NFL season, the 49ers are contenders, and the Dolphins are just starting a rebuild. However, that doesn't mean all the similarities end there.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the 49ers and Dolphins are hosting the UFL MVP, and son of former NFL quarterback Jake Plummer, Jack Plummer, on workouts over the next week or so.
49ers and Dolphins host Jack Plummer, UFL MVP and son of Jake Plummer, on a workout
"UFL @UFLonFOX MVP quarterback Jack Plummer will work out for the San Francisco 49ers tomorrow, and has a scheduled workout with the Miami Dolphins next week, per a league source @Kprc2," Wilson reports.
The Dolphins and 49ers are both bringing in the UFL league MVP for workouts this summer as training camp begins. Plummer will compete for a roster spot for both the Dolphins and 49ers.
Plummer played for the Orlando Storm this season, winning the league MVP by throwing for 2,189 yards on a 65.0% completion percentage on 300 attempts across 10 games with 17 touchdowns to just one interception.

It was a very good season for Plummer, and now he's getting a chance to compete for a roster spot on the 49ers and Dolphins.
His father, Jake Plummer, played for the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos during his 10-year NFL career, where he threw for 29,253 passing yards, 161 touchdowns, and 161 interceptions with a 69-67 record. He also earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2005.
Jack Plummer is working out for the 49ers and Dolphins, according to Wilson, and will try to make an NFL roster after spending the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, but never actually taking a snap in the NFL.
