Tyler Shough entered Sunday still searching for a defining NFL moment. He left Baltimore with one. The New Orleans Saints quarterback scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard run with 1:28 remaining, completing a stunning comeback in a 24-17 victory over the Ravens.
New Orleans trailed 14-3 during the second quarter and entered halftime without a touchdown. Baltimore appeared positioned to control the game behind Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.
Shough never allowed the Saints to disappear. He completed 27 of 34 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown. He also led the decisive late drive and finished it himself by charging into the end zone.
“Our guys didn’t stop,” the Saints wrote in the headline of their official postgame coverage.
Neither did their quarterback.
Shough delivers against one of NFL’s toughest opponents
The Saints gradually worked their way back into the game behind Shough’s accuracy and three Daniel Carlson field goals. Shough then found Chris Olave for a 21-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Travis Etienne Jr. reached the pylon on the two-point conversion, tying the game at 17.

Instead, the Ravens’ offense managed only three points during the second half.
Shough took advantage. The second-year quarterback moved New Orleans into scoring position and refused to hesitate near the goal line. His touchdown run gave the Saints their first lead and placed the pressure back on Jackson.
Julian Blackmon ended Baltimore’s final opportunity by intercepting Jackson with 21 seconds remaining. New Orleans completed the comeback without committing a turnover. That detail might have mattered more than any individual statistic. The Saints remained patient while Baltimore’s offense stalled, then capitalized when the Ravens finally made a major mistake.

Ravens waste another strong start
Jackson threw for 235 yards and connected with Rashod Bateman for a 22-yard touchdown. Henry added a rushing score as Baltimore constructed its 14-3 advantage.
The offense could not finish.
New Orleans’ pass rush created increasing pressure in the second half, with Chase Young producing an important third-down sack. Baltimore failed to establish the late running game that usually closes victories at home.
The Ravens fell to 1-1 despite leading by double digits. The Saints improved to 1-1 and gave Shough a performance that could transform the perception of their season.
New Orleans did not ask its quarterback to produce a collection of highlight-reel throws. The Saints needed accuracy, patience and courage during the biggest possession of the afternoon.
Shough supplied all three. Beating Jackson in Baltimore requires a quarterback to make decisive plays when the game tightens. Shough made the final one and walked away with the most impressive victory of his young career.
