Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry is known for going big—with the drama in his franchises, with the number of projects he's taken on, with his massive properties. But now, the media impresario is looking to offload his colossal 23-acre California estate for $57 million. He bought the plot for $4.3 million in 2004 and spent the better part of a decade erecting a 25,000-square-foot megamanse on its expanse.
The result of Perry’s long-term project is an eight-bedroom, 15-bathroom oasis within a gated enclave. The home, which features a butterfly-shaped floor plan, boasts a library, a home theater, a gym, a salon, massage rooms, wine storage, and a swimming pool.

A one-bedroom guesthouse and staff quarters are also found on the property. The extra lodging has come in handy for Perry’s high-profile guests over the years; he has reportedly hosted former President Barack Obama and Oprah. The massive property would later serve as a temporary refuge for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2020, after the couple stepped down from their royal duties. The Sussexes have since returned to the UK after six years in Montecito, California.
“We needed a house and he offered security as well,” Markle said in an interview with Oprah in 2021. “So it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we are going to do.”

Perry’s Beverly Hills manse is not the only property he’s decided to part ways with in recent months. The Madea star put his custom Jackson Hole, Wyoming, retreat on the market for $40 million in June.
As for his next move, Perry is planning a big relocation—and a slowdown of his famously busy schedule. “Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I’m pulling back a whole lot,” Perry said in a recent interview with Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.
