Two police officers were shot and a suspect is dead after an attempted arrest turned into a car chase in Connecticut’s capital late Friday night, according to a report.
Bullets flew in Newington, Conn., just outside of Hartford, around 11 p.m. after cops were investigating “illegal activity” near the West Boulevard Historic District, WTNH reported, citing Hartford Police Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert.
Two officers attempted to arrest the unnamed suspect and felt an object they “believed to be a firearm in the suspect’s waistband,” said Boisvert, the report stated.
The injured officers officers were rushed to hospital, but are in stable condition. WFSB NewsThe suspect then got into a vehicle and drove through Hartford with the officers in a hot pursuit, which ended at Webster Court in Newington.
The cops and suspect exchanged gunfire, which left both officers injured and the suspect declared dead at the scene, according to cops.
Both officers were rushed to hospital, but are in stable condition – though the extent of their injuries is unknown.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, the report stated.
