Two fireballs spotted soaring across Connecticut sky during annual meteor shower

Two meteors were spotted soaring across the evening sky in Connecticut as part of the annual Perseid meteor shower.

Lisa LeBron, 33, was outside setting up a movie projector with her family when the kids suddenly saw two balls of fire ripping through the sky.

Lisa spotted the shower from her back garden in Killingly, Connecticut, on August 15 around 8 p.m.

Neither Lisa nor her family knew what it was, but there is an annual meteor shower that occurs each summer and often appears in spots across the US.

According to NASA, the Perseid meteor shower is active from mid-July to late August, peaking around August 12-13, and is viewable from the Northern Hemisphere.

It happens when Earth passes through dusty space debris left by the comet Swift-Tuttle.

Lisa, from Killingly, Connecticut, USA, said: “We were outside about to start a movie on our projector when one of the kids pointed out something in the sky.

“I started recording because I’d never seen anything like it.

“I still have no clue what it was. It sort of looked like something on fire falling from the sky, maybe a meteor?

“The kids thought it was very cool, though one of them was our own “Chicken Little,” yelling, “Everyone run for your life!.”
