Twins twist the knife as Mets’ slide hits new low

The New York Mets have lost a dozen games on the bounce and the Minnesota Twins made sure to antagonize them further with their latest social media jab.

On Tuesday, the Twins handed the Mets their 12th consecutive loss with a 5-3 victory. The Mets are now in the middle of an unreal slump not seen since 2002.

After the game, the Twins' social media team played a joke at the expense of the Mets. Keeping the Mets' 12-game losing streak in mind, they wrote:

"Things you can get in a dozen: - Eggs - Roses - Mets losses."

Through this, the Twins joked that the Mets have become a losing commodity.

Twins rallied late to deny Mets any fortune

The Mets had their best chance to snap their 11-game losing skid with Nolan McLean starting for them. The right-hander punched out 10 hitters in 6.2 innings. He gave up five hits for three earned runs. The Mets' offense also came alive in the third inning as they scored three runs, thanks to Francisco Lindor's home run.

Twins slugger Byron Buxton responded with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Before McLean left, he gave up an RBI hit to Luke Keaschall in the seventh inning. The scores remained tied 3-3 until the top of the ninth inning, where fortunes turned worse for the Mets.

Once again, the Mets gave up a go-ahead single to Keaschall. The Twins' lead extended to 5-3 after Mets reliever Devin Williams gave up a bases-loaded RBI walk to Matt Wallner. That was it, as Twins closer Cole Sands sealed the win on the mound.
