Twins get injury update on 3X All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is likely to require surgery on his right hip during the offseason. 

The three-time All-Star recently told Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star-Tribune that he's dealt with hip issues since the 2021 season. 

"Yeah, unfortunately, I know I’m going to have to get [surgery] done at some point,” Buxton said. “I’m going to go until it sparks me up again. Then I’ll know, ‘All right, it’s time, bro.’ Until then, I’m just going to keep fighting.”

Buxton has been out of Minnesota's lineup for the past nine days. 

This is his third injured list stint of the season due to the hip impingement. The 32-year-old is a former Platinum Glove Award winner in center field but has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career.

There's still a chance that Buxton could return and help the Twins reach the postseason. The AL Central club is 3.5 games back for the third and final Wild Card spot. 

In 93 games this season, Buxton is hitting .254/.319/.511 with 25 home runs and 46 RBIs. 

He has cut down on the stolen base attempts after swiping 24 bags without being caught in 2025.
