Trump claims Biden admin weaponized DOJ to target Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA to put movement ‘out of business’

President Trump boldly asserted that the Biden administration weaponized the Justice Department in an attempt to silence Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA.

The commander-in-chief accused “deranged” Special Council Jack Smith — who oversaw two prosecutions against Trump before he resigned in January — and the “corrupt and incompetent Biden administration” of trying to force the conservative non-profit organization “out of business.”

“They tried to force Charlie, and many other people and movements, out of business,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday night. “They Weaponized the Justice Department against Sleepy Joe Biden’s Political Opponents, including ME!”

The president sounded off only hours after Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley published files showing the FBI had subpoenaed dozens of GOP-affiliated organizations as part of its election probe into Trump, including Kirk’s Turning Point USA.

“Some examples of the groups the [Christopher] Wray FBI sought to place under political investigation included the Republican National Committee, Republican Attorneys General Association and Trump political groups,” Grassley announced.

“On that political list was one of Charlie Kirk’s groups, Turning Point USA.”

The FBI’s 2022 probe, code-named “Arctic Frost,” was later handed to Smith, who charged Trump for allegedly stashing top-secret files at Mar-a-Lago and trying to overturn the 2020 election.

The investigation also pursued lines of inquiry about purportedly false election fraud claims, fake elector schemes, frivolous lawsuits, financial fraud, and pressure on state officials to flip vote counts in Trump’s favor.

The FBI had examined potential offenses linked to “J6 $,” a designation apparently referring to organizations that may have funded Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally or were involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol that briefly disrupted certification of Biden’s win.

Smith’s cases did not go to trial before Trump won re-election in November 2024 and were later dropped.

While Turning Point USA was one of the conservative groups subpoenaed, the exact basis of the inquiry is unclear.

However, Kirk had echoed Trump’s claims that mail-in voting in the 2020 election was riddled with fraud in the past.

Turning Point USA, co-founded by Kirk in 2012, has been flooded with more than 37,000 new chapter requests in the wake of the father of two’s assassination.

Kirk’s widow, Erika, has been credited with the uptick in requests after urging supporters to get involved during her emotional first public remarks on Sept. 12.

Before Erika’s appeal, TPUSA reported having 9,000 college chapters and 1,100 high school chapters.

Kirk, 31, was shot and killed during a TPUSA speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

The father of two’s suspected assassin, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, allegedly had a rabid “obsession’’ with Kirk and vowed to “take out” the conservative influencer because he “hated” his views — boasting he had the perfect murder plan, the FBI revealed Monday.

An emotionless Robinson appeared on video from his Utah prison cell for a virtual hearing in a green “suicide smock” on Tuesday evening and was formally charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and a violent offense in the presence of a child.

The prosecution has filed notice of its intent to seek the death penalty against him, which could be by firing squad under Utah law.

Vice President JD Vance and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller have vowed a law enforcement crackdown on left-wing groups “promoting violence” following Kirk’s assassination.
