Trinity Rodman couldn’t help but do a signature celebration with boyfriend Ben Shelton in the early hours Wednesday morning after he punched his ticket to the US Open semifinals.
After a five-set thriller match that ended in an all-time tiebreak, the 23-year-old defeated seven-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7) in the latest finish ever at Arthur Ashe Stadium at 3:33 a.m.
Shelton and Rodman shared a fun moment at the end of it all, performing the American star’s hang up the phone celebration as the couple looked at each other with big smiles.
The USWNT star went on to share the moment to her Instagram story that also showed Shelton roaring to the remaining crowd in victory.
“My 🌎” Rodman wrote over the video.
She posted another photo to her Instagram story, showing the final score and the time — 3:51 a.m. — she shared the post.
“Insane,” Rodman wrote.
Rodman was captured going through the highs and lows with Shelton throughout the enthralling match that will go down as one of the best tennis matches ever.
Fans could see her smiling and clapping at times, while holding her head in her hands at other times.
She even brought an action figure of Shelton with her as seemingly a good luck charm, and it stood on the balcony railing in front of her seat.
The couple, who have been dating since March 2025, shared another funny moment as Shelton was being interviewed on the court after the four-hour-and-28-minute match.
Shelton said while answering one question, “I’m just hoping my best friend and sister over there don’t have to be at work at 6 a.m. in three hours…” before the camera cut to his box, where Rodman could be seen saying “What about me?”
She pointed to herself and laughed along with the others in Shelton’s box.
Shelton first did the phone celebration in 2023 after winning a U.S. Open quarterfinal match against Frances Tiafoe, defeating him in four sets.
Following that, Novak Djokovic did it back to him in Shelton’s first Grand Slam semifinal after besting him in three straight sets.
After winning the match of his life, the former Florida Gator will now be challenged against Tiafoe again in the semifinals Friday.
Both men have never made it to a Grand Slam final and one will have a chance to end the American men’s drought at the U.S. Open that has long been held over their heads.
As of Wednesday morning, Roland Garros champion Alexander Zverev is slightly favored (+110) over Shelton (+140) to take the title in New York, per Draft Kings.
If Shelton goes all the way, he will be the first American man to win a Grand Slam since Andy Roddick’s U.S. Open win in 2003.
