Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift prenup down to five states with one major jurisdiction left out in the cold

With a summer wedding reportedly on the horizon following a leaked July 3 date, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are doing more than just coordinating a busy venue-hunting schedule.

As they approach their wedding in a few months, new reports suggest that establishing a prenuptial agreement is becoming a priority for the two lovebirds, as safeguarding their assets is equally important as choosing the ideal wedding venue.

According to TMZ, the couple has ties to six states but will not draft their prenup in California. This leaves Rhode Island, Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, and New York on the shortlist.

California is out because its community property laws generally split marital assets 50/50. Instead, they need a state that strictly enforces prenups, protects premarital assets, and shields business and intellectual property growth. It also helps if the state limits a judge's power to change agreements or award long-term alimony.

With one of the biggest stars of the planet worth an estimated $2 billion and the Kansas City Chiefs' TE worth $90 million, the financial stakes require a jurisdiction that leaves no room for interpretation.

Rhode Island is the safest option for the 14-time Grammy winner's billionaire status. Conversely, New York is the riskiest because its judges frequently overturn prenuptial agreements. Kansas is a reliable alternative with predictable courts and ties to Kelce’s career, while Tennessee safely protects wealthy entertainers.

The timing aligns with the final stage of Kelce's football career. The 36-year-old recently signed a restructured contract for his 14th season with the Chiefs, securing $12 million guaranteed with $3 million in performance incentives. The deal features a $40 million roster bonus vesting in June 2027, which allows an easy exit if he retires after this season.

Insiders told RadarOnline that both sides' lawyers have already begun working on the agreement. The state they choose will govern how their property is divided, regardless of where they live in the future.
