Travis Kelce opened up on Wednesday about losing Patrick Mahomes for the rest of the season. He broke down what it was like watching his quarterback get hurt in the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the LA Chargers in Week 15.
Kelce and Mahomes have been teammates since 2017. They won three Super Bowls together and reached seven consecutive AFC championship games before the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday.
"We lost our quarterback, man, Patty Mahomes, our guy, our brother, our fearless leader, our face of the franchise to an ACL," Kelce said, via the "New Heights" podcast. "It's never easy seeing your guys go down. We fought, man, we had some guys fight through stuff, we had some guys who, unfortunately, did not make it back onto the field."•

"He's a warrior," Kelce said. "This guy played through everything, battled through everything, crowned champion because he's battled through everything. He's gonna battle through this. It's the only way this guy is wired. He's gonna make sure he's gonna come back stronger than ever."Kansas City has three games remaining with Gardner Minshew taking over at quarterback. Mahomes could miss time in the 2026 season depending on his recovery timeline.
Kelce pledged to finish the year strong despite the playoff elimination. He called it an honor to suit up in the NFL, regardless of what's at stake in the final three weeks.
