The Kansas City Chiefs and tight end Travis Kelce had a scary moment in the team's game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. During the game, Kelce fell to the ground, and it appeared he turned his right ankle on a tackle from Daiyan Henley.
Later, cameras caught Kelce on the sidelines getting his ankle looked at, worked on and taped. The NFL on CBS Sports shared the moment on X, but ultimately, Kelce stayed in for the rest of the game.
The Chiefs won it, 22-6. But after the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid admitted that Kelce was playing through an injury.
Andy Reid confirms Travis Kelce played through an ankle injury
Speaking with reporters after the game, Reid spoke about the team's injuries.
"Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Jaylon Moore has a concussion, Travis Kelce played through an ankle injury, Jalen Royals was checked for a concussion but he was OK and Kingsley Suamataia got kicked in the calf," Chiefs beat writer Pete Sweeney of The Kansas City Star shared on social media.
So, Kelce is definitely injured, although Reid didn't offer many details about the extent of the injury.
Former NFL team doctor David Chao took to X during the game, however, to give his take on the injury based on what he saw on camera.
"By video, mild right high eversion ankle sprain," he said. "Possible to tape and return."
Tape and return is exactly what Kelce did. There's no word on whether he'll be available for the team's Week 7 game against the Seattle Seahawks, but Reid didn't hint at him being out.
