The business of college football waits for no one, if this year's coaching carousel taught any lesson. After 15 power-conference programs hired a new head coach, player movement is inevitable.

The transfer portal opened for players on Jan. 2, but murmurs of certain players making plans to enter the portal began as soon as the regular season came to an end.

Quarterback movement promises to dominate the headlines as the college football season wraps up, particularly with a few major programs searching for new signal-callers.

Monday, Jan. 12

Sam Leavitt expected to sign with LSU

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Leavitt is expected to sign with the Tigers. The former Arizona State QB had taken visits to Kentucky, Tennessee and Miami. 

Lagway expected to stick with Baylor commitment despite late Ole Miss visit

Former Florida standout DJ Lagway's late visit to Ole Miss threatened to complicate his commitment to Baylor. However, Lagway is expected to stick with the Bears, per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

Dylan Raiola commits to Oregon

The former Nebraska quarterback announced his commitment on social media. The move suggests that current Ducks quarterback Dante Moore could be headed to the draft. 

Sam Leavitt officially signs with LSU

The former Arizona State quarterback will officially play for Lane Kiffin in 2026, as LSU announced Leavitt has signed with the Tigers.

Beau Pribula commits to Virginia

The former Penn State and Missouri quarterback is heading to the ACC, per On3, as Pribula has committed to the Virginia Cavaliers.

Saturday, Jan. 10

Dylan Raiola expected to visit Oregon

According to On3's Pete Nakos, Raiola, the former five-star recruit, is expected to visit Dan Lanning and Oregon. The Ducks' season ended on Friday night with a 56-22 loss to Indiana in the College Football Playoff semifinals. With the future of Dante Moore uncertain, Raiola will visit Eugene.

Thursday, Jan. 8

DJ Lagway commits to Baylor

Former Florida QB DJ Lagway is committing to Baylor, per On3's Hayes Fawcett. Lagway has two years of eligibility remaining, and he heads to Baylor with 4,179 career passing yards with 28 touchdowns. He had an unofficial visit to Baylor in 2022, about a month before committing to Florida, per 247Sports

Wednesday, Jan. 7

Beau Pribula visiting Washington

Amidst the Demond Williams transfer situation, Washington has brought in Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula for a visit, with the quarterback being hosted by in Seattle according to On3's Pete Nakos.

Pribula was the starter for Missouri in 2025, guiding the Tigers to a competitive start before a late-season ankle injury sidelined him for a few games. Before that, he was at Penn State (2022-2024), where he served as the backup to Drew Allar and tallied 10 total touchdowns for the Nittany Lions. Pribula becomes an immediate target for Washington as they attempt to secure their quarterback position for the upcoming season.

Michael Van Buren commits to USF

Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, Van Buren, who started his career at Mississippi State and most recently played at LSU, has committed to Brian Hartline and USF. The commitment is a massive win for the Bulls, as the talented sophomore provides Hartline with a battle-tested quarterback who started games in the SEC. Van Buren brings a blend of mobility and a strong arm to Tampa, having totaled over 2,800 yards and 19 touchdowns combined in his true freshman season at Mississippi State (2024) and his sophomore campaign at LSU (2025).

Auburn's Jackson Arnold signs with UNLV

According to On3's Pete Nakos, Arnold, a former five-star recruit, has signed with UNLV to play under Dan Mullen, seeking a fresh start in the Mountain West. This move follows a collegiate career that began at Oklahoma in 2023, where he played sparingly as a freshman, before becoming a more significant contributor in 2024, throwing for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns. He transferred to Auburn for the 2025 season, where he started eight games, accumulating 1,309 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, and adding 8 rushing touchdowns, but ultimately re-entered the portal. Arnold now looks to revitalize his dual-threat career at UNLV.

Ole Miss and Stanford seeking D.J. Lagway visit

CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that both the Rebels and Cardinal are working to get Lagway, the former No. 1 recruit, on campus for a visit. The former Florida quarterback has already visited Florida State and Virginia, with Baylor being another speculated deestination. He is ranked as one of the top remaining players in the transfer portal.

Tuesday, Jan. 6

Washington QB Demond Williams entering transfer portal

On Tuesday night, January 6, 2026, Williams announced his intent to enter the portal. The announcement was a shock, as Williams, who was the Huskies' starting quarterback in the 2025 season (3,065 passing yards, 31 total touchdowns), had reportedly signed a "top of the market" one-year, $4 million revenue-share contract with the University of Washington just four days prior, on January 2.

Washington officials and the Big Ten Conference are now refusing to enter his name into the portal, stating they are prepared to pursue "all legal avenues" to enforce the binding contract, which reportedly prohibits a player from transferring once signed.

Monday, Jan. 5

Kenny Minchey flips commitment from Nebraska to Kentucky

According to ESPN's Max Olson, the Notre Dame transfer is spurning the Cornhuskers for the Wildcats and new head coach Will Stein. Minchey played in five games for the Fighting Irish in 2025.

Auburn QB Deuce Knight officially enters transfer portal

On3's Pete Nakos reported on Monday evening that Knight has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal. The former five-star recruit played sparingly in his true freshman season but showed flashes of his dual-threat potential, particularly in a strong performance against Mercer. Knight is expected to be a highly sought-after commodity, with several major programs reportedly vying for the services of the mobile and talented signal-caller.

Former Memphis QB AJ Hill commits to Arkansas

Pete Thamel reported that Hill confirmed that he is heading to Arkansas. The former Memphis QB will have four seasons of eligibility left. 

UNC QB Gio Lopez to enter portal

Sam Khan Jr. reports that Lopez is expected to enter the transfer portal. He would become the second UNC quarterback to enter the portal following Max Johnson. Lopez started 11 games last season. 

Former Boston College QB Dylan Lonergan commits to Rutgers

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Lonergan has committed to Rutgers. This was his second time in the portal. He initially played for Alabama, but then transferred to Boston College for the 2025 season. He played in 10 games last year and threw for 2,025 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. 

Sunday, Jan. 4

Eastern Carolina QB Katin Houser commits to Illinois

Hauser, who started for the Pirates for the past two seasons, has officially signed with Brett Bielema and the Fiighting Illini, per On3's Pete Nakos. Hauser completed 418 of 653 passes for for 5,306 yards, 37 touchdowns and 17 interceptions during his time with Eastern Carolina. He will now look to be the replacement for Luke Altmeyer, who started for Illinois in 2024 and 2025.

Former Harvard QB Jaden Craig commits to TCU

Former TCU QB Josh Hoover committed to Indiana earlier in the day, and the Horned Frogs have their replacement. Craig will be joining TCU. He ends his career at Harvard as the school's all time passing touchdowns (52) and passing yards (6,074) and has one year of eligibility left. 

Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt to visit LSU

After Leavitt visited Kentucky and Texas Tech, On3's Pete Nakos reported that LSU is expected to host the Arizona State star signal-caller sometime this week. The quarterback is one of the highest-rated recruits in the portal and would immediately be the favorite for Lane Kifin's 2026 starter if he lands in Baton Rouge.

TCU's Josh Hoover commits to Indiana

Former TCU quarterback Josh Hoover has officially committed to the Indiana Hoosiers, according to reports from ESPN's Pete Thamel and On3's Pete Nakos. The highly sought-after transfer was one of the nation's leading passers in 2025, throwing for 3,472 yards with 29 touchdowns for the Horned Frogs. Hoover was initially committed to Indiana out of high school before flipping to TCU, making this decision a major win for the Hoosiers.

Hoover’s commitment comes as a necessary move for Indiana, who are bracing for the expected departure of Heisman-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza to the NFL Draft. In his two full seasons as a starter at TCU, Hoover totaled over 6,100 yards and 56 passing touchdowns, establishing himself as a reliable and high-volume pocket passer capable of elevating an offense immediately.

James Madison QB Alonza Barnett III commits to UCF

Barnett, who led James Madison to a 12-1 season where it won the Sun Belt and made the College Football Playoff, has committed to UCF, ESPN's Pete Thamel reports. The former Duke transfer threw for over 3,500 yards and accounted for 35 total touchdowns for the Dukes in 2025, quickly establishing himself as one of the most productive and seasoned quarterbacks in the Group of Five.

Barnett's commitment provides UCF with an experienced and high-performing quarterback to lead their offense as they aim to compete for a Big 12 title next season, a critical addition for head coach Scott Frost as he seeks to stabilize the program in his second year.

Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr. commits to North Carolina

ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Edwards is going to North Carolina after one year at Wisconsin. The former Maryland quarterback played just two games for Wisconsin in 2025 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He will get a sixth year of eligibility in 2026, and now heads to Chapel Hill to play quarterback for Bill Belichick's Tar Heels. In 2024, which was his lone season as a starter, Edwards produced 2,881 passing yards, 148 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns.

Old Dominion transfer Colton Joseph commits to Wisconsin

After two years at Old Dominion, Joseph replaces Edwards in Wisconsin, ESPN's Pete Thamel reports. Over the past two seasons, Joseph played in 21 games and totaled 4,251 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 59.8 percent of his passes.

Iowa State transfer Rocco Becht commits to Penn State

After Matt Campbell left Iowa State for Penn State, then Rocco Becht entered the portal, the Nittany Lions were viewed as the heavy favorites to land him. Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, that has become official, as Becht committed to Penn State on Sunday.

With 2025 QB1 Drew Allar off to the NFL and QB2 Ethan Grunkemeyer in the transfer portal, Becht immediately becomes the clear-cut name for Penn State's starting job in 2026. He joins a collection of other Cyclones to follow Campbell to State College.

Saturday, Jan. 3

Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz commits to Louisville

Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, Kienholz, who entered the portal after Ohio State's loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff, has committed to Louisville. Kienholz spent three seasons at Ohio State, primarily serving as a talented backup on a crowded depth chart, which ultimately limited his playing time to brief appearances across 12 games. His most significant action came in the 2023 Cotton Bowl after an injury to the starter, where he struggled in a loss to Missouri.

Kentucky transfer Cutter Boley commits to Arizona State

On3's Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos reported that Boley, the SEC all-freshman quarterback, has committed to Kenny Dillingham and Arizona State. Boley was Kentucky's primary starter in 2025, passing for 2,160 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, which led to his SEC All-Freshman selection. His decision to transfer follows the firing of his former head coach, Mark Stoops, and provides Arizona State with a high-upside developmental arm who can immediately compete for the starting job.

Arizona State's Sam Leavitt visiting Texas Tech on Sunday

Per On3's Pete Nakos, Leavitt will be visiting Texas Tech on Sunday, Jan. 4. Leavitt, one of the highest-ranked players in the portal, spent the past two days in Lexington visiting Kentucky and will now make the trip to Lubbock. He led Arizona State to the Big 12 title and College Football Playoff as a freshman in 2024, before injuries derailed his 2025 season.

Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby visiting LSU for second time

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel Sorsby is on his way to LSU for his second visit with LSU. The top prospect in the transfer portal's visit to Texas Tech concluded on Saturday.

On3's Pete Nakos reported that "Sorsby is still on track to visit LSU."

LSU backup QB Michael Van Buren to enter portal

Hayes Fawcett reported that Van Buren will once again be entering the portal. He started his career at Mississippi State before transferring to LSU and will now be on the move once again. Van Buren has played in 17 career games and has 2,896 yards with 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has two years of eligibility left. 

Former North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker commits to Oklahoma State

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Mestemaker has committed to Oklahoma State. Mestemaker led North Texas to a 12-2 record with a loss in the American Conference championship to Tulane, but a bowl win over San Diego State. 

Sacramento State's Jaden Rashada to enter portal

Once lauded as a five-star quarterback recruit in the 2023 class, Rashada has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal according to On3's Pete Nakos. His departure from Sacramento State, following a tumultuous recruitment saga that originally involved a highly-publicized flip from Miami to Arizona State, marks yet another pivotal shift in the career of the once highly-touted signal-caller.

Friday, Jan. 2

Texas Tech backup QB Mitch Griffis to enter portal

On3's Pete Nakos reported that Griffis will be entering the transfer portal. The former Red Raiders QB has one year of eligibility remaining. 

Ole Miss backup QB Austin Simmons plans to enter transfer portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Austin Simmons is expected to enter the transfer portal. Thamel also reported that Simmons will be with the Rebels through their CFP run, and that Missouri is the favorite to land him.

Brendan Sorsby lines up visits to Texas Tech, LSU

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that former Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby has scheduled visits to both Texas Tech and LSU. He is currently considered one of the top players in the transfer portal, and the top quarterback. 

Duke backup QB Henry Belin IV entering portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Belin IV will be entering the transfer portal. He has seen limited action over four years with the Blue Devils tallying a total of 540 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions.

Kentucky QB Cutter Boley expected to enter the portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Boley will enter the portal. Boley, a redshirt freshman, threw for 2.160 yards with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season 

Penn State QB Ethan Grunkemeyer entering portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Penn State QB Ethan Grunkemeyer, who took over for the team as its starter following Drew Allar's injury, is entering the transfer portal. Grunkemeyer is a redshirt freshman who started seven games for Penn State this season.

Wednesday, Dec. 31

Arkansas' Grayson Wilson entering portal

Arkansas QB Grayson Wilson plans to enter the portal after spending his true freshman season in Fayetteville. Wilson was a three-star recruit in 2025 and did not see the field in 2025.

Oklahoma QB Michael Hawkins Jr. to enter portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Hawkins Jr. will be entering the transfer portal. He played in nine games over two seasons for the Sooners, but will get a redshirt for the 2025 season. He will have three years of eligibility left. 

Houston QB Zeon Chriss entering portal

New year, new team. On New Year's Eve, Houston QB Zeon Chriss announced he would be entering the transfer portal. The QB has one season of eligibility left. Over his collegiate career, Chriss has played in 29 career games and has thrown for 2,263 yards with 10 rushing touchdowns between stops at Louisiana and Houston, per Pete Thamel

Auburn QB Deuce Knight entering portal

According to On3's Hayes Fawcett, the Auburn quarterback is expected to enter the portal. The former five-star recruiting prospect completed 17 passes for 259 yards and two scores during the 2025 season. 

Monday, Dec. 29 

Michigan QB Davis Warren to enter portal 

ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Davis Warren will enter the portal. Warren missed the 2025 season with a knee injury, and is expected to receive a medical redshirt. He was the Wolverines' starter for the majority of games last season, throwing for 1,199 yards with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.  

Sunday, Dec. 28

UCLA's Henry Hasselbeck enters portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Hasselbeck, the son of former quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, is entering the transfer portal. He will have three years of eligibility left and Thamel pointed out that the QB initially committed to Michigan State before flipping to the Bruins. 

Saturday, Dec. 27

Oregon's Austin Nvosad enters portal

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, Nvosad, who served as the backup to Dante Moore during the 2025 season, put his name in the portal on Saturday. The quarterback played seven games throughout his tenure at Oregon, tallying only 99 yards on 15 passing attempts.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Friday, Dec. 26

UNLV's Anthony Colandrea returns to portal

Former Virginia QB Anthony Colandrea will enter the transfer portal for the second consecutive year. Colandrea threw for 3,459 yards, 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions under Dan Mullen in 2025, rushing for 649 yards and 10 touchdowns, and is likely looking for a Power Four return.

James Madison QB Alonza Barnett III entering portal

Fresh off a College Football Playoff appearance, James Madison QB Alonza Barnett III will enter the transfer portal. Barnett, who has one year of eligibility remaining, has spent the last two seasons as the Dukes' starter with 71 total touchdowns to 12 interceptions, including 15 rushing touchdowns this season. Barnett's coach, Bob Chesney, recently accepted the head coaching job at UCLA. 

Tuesday, Dec. 23

Kennesaw State's Amari Odom headed to portal

Kennesaw State QB Amari Odom plans to enter the portal, according to CBS Sports' Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz. Odom was part of a Kennesaw State team that surprised with 10 wins and won the Conference USA title, throwing for 2,594 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions along with seven rushing touchdowns. Odom will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Monday, Dec. 22

Nebraska QB Marcos Davila to enter portal

Matt Zenitz reported that Davila would be entering the transfer portal, leaving Nebraska. He was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class, and saw limited action. Davila redshirted for the 2025 season. 

USF's Byrum Brown enters transfer portal 

Just a couple weeks after USF's hire of Brian Hartline was announced, the Bulls' signal-caller for the few seasons is on the move, per ESPN's Pete Thamel. He has been with the Bulls since 2022, throwing for 7,691 yards with 61 touchdowns and 19 interceptions, adding another 2,265 yards with 31 scores on the ground.

Expect Auburn to be a heavy favorite, since Brown's former head coach, Alex Golesh was just hired there.  

Air Noland re-enters the transfer portal

Noland began his collegiate career at Ohio State in 2024. He transferred to South Carolina ahead of the 2025 season, likely to serve as the heir apparent to LaNorris Sellers. When Sellers got hurt, it was QB turned WR turned back to QB Luke Doty who actually got the reps under center. Between that and Sellers returning to the Gamecocks for the 2026 season, Noland decided to enter the transfer portal once again, per Pete Nakos

Sunday, Dec. 21

Memphis QB AJ Hill to enter portal

Hill was a Top 100 recruit in ESPN's Class of 2025 rankings. He had offers from Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame, but chose to play for the Tigers for a better chance of seeing game action sooner. 

Hill saw limited action behind starting quarterback Brendon Lewis. He finished his first season with 223 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. 

Saturday, Dec. 20

Iowa State's Rocco Becht entering portal

After Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell departed for Penn State, starting quarterback Rocco Becht is entering the transfer portal, per On3.

The redshirt junior had been the Cyclones' QB1 for three seasons, leading them to a 26-13 record in that span and moving up the program's charts for all-time passing yards and touchdowns. Becht is set to become one of the top quarterbacks in the portal, especially with a winning history, and a reunion with Campbell at Penn State could be one possible destination for the quarterback.

Friday, Dec. 19

LSU's Tre People entering portal

On3 reported that People is heading to the portal. He will have four years of eligibility remaining after redshirting as a freshman. People opted not to stick around for the Tigers as LSU enters the Lane Kiffin era. 

Thursday, Dec. 18

TCU's Josh Hoover to enter portal

Pete Thamel reported that Hoover intends to enter the portal. Barring any surprises, the former Horned Frogs quarterback is expected to have the most passing yards and passing touchdowns of any QB in the portal this season. 

In 2025, Hoover threw for 3,472 yards with 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Hoover is more of a pocket presence, and is not known as a dual-threat quarterback, but he does have two rushing TDs. 

Beau Pribula to enter portal

On Thursday, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula informed his team that he plans to enter the transfer portal.

Pribula had 11 passing touchdowns and six rushing touchdowns with nine interceptions for the Tigers in 2025, his first season with the team after transferring from Penn State. With a dual-threat skillset, Pribula will now be headed elsewhere. 

Pribula will not play in the Gator Bowl, per Pete Thamel.

Tuesday, Dec. 16

Drew Mestemaker to enter portal

On Tuesday, On3's Pete Nakos reported that Mestemaker — who led the nation with 4,129 passing yards this season — will enter the transfer portal.

Mestemaker was arguably the best non-power conference signal-caller, leading North Texas to an 11-2 season where it lost to Tulane in the American Athletic Conference championship. He was tied for second in the AAC with 31 passing touchdowns and never threw for less than 200 yards in a game.

He immediately becomes not only one of the top quarterbacks, but one of the top targets, in the transfer portal.

Jadyn Davis to enter portal

Michigan backup Jadyn Davis will be entering the portal, On3 reported on Tuesday. This is the first Wolverines signal-caller to transfer since the shocking firing of Sherrone Moore.

Davis, the sophomore from Charlotte, North Carolina, appeared in one game for Michigan over his two-year career, throwing two passes.

Of course when it comes to the Wolverines, all eyes are on quarterback Bryce Underwood and whether he will leave Ann Arbor.

Aaron Philo to enter portal

Georgia Tech quarterback Aaron Philo, who backed up Haynes King in the Yellow Jackets' 9-3 season, will enter the transfer portal, On3 reports. Philo took $1 million to stay at Georgia Tech this season.

Philo is an intriguing transfer prospect primarily because of his historic high school production, where he became the all-time leading passer in Georgia high school history with 13,922 yards, breaking the record previously held by Trevor Lawrence. Furthermore, he demonstrated his potential in limited action at Georgia Tech, notably earning a 93.7 PFF grade in one appearance and leading the team to a late-game victory over NC State with an 18-yard game-winning touchdown run.

This pedigree is coupled with the fact that he has multiple years of eligibility remaining, making him a valuable long-term asset.

Monday, Dec. 15

Dylan Raiola to enter portal

Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola will enter the transfer portal, ESPN's Pete Thamel reports.

The writing had been on the wall for Raiola to leave Nebraska, as his brother decommitted from the program and his uncle was fired from his role as offensive line coach. A former five-star recruit, Raiola made tangible progress in 2025 but saw his season cut short by a broken leg in early November.

Brady Allen, Brendan Sorsby latest to enter portal

The transfer portal continues to stay hot on Monday. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that both Louisville's Brady Allen and Cincinnati's Brendan Sorsby are heading to the portal. 

Allen will have two years of eligibility remaining after being granted a medical redshirt for the 2023 season. He only saw action in five games this past season for Louisville. 

Sorsby has one eye on the portal and one eye on the 2026 NFL Draft. Thamel reported that the dual-threat quarterback is waiting on feedback for the NFL Draft to see if it is worth declaring this year, or staying in college another season. 

Michigan State junior Aidan Chiles enters portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Chiles will be entering the transfer portal. He is a true junior and has one year of eligibility remaining. It will be his second time transferring after starting his career at Oregon State. 

Florida Gators QB DJ Lagway enters portal

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Lagway intends to enter the transfer portal. The dual-threat QB had a down year as Florida left the Billy Napier era, but is still just two years removed from being the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2024 class. If he bounces back to the player he was recruited to be and lands in the right spot, he could be the steal of the portal.

Division II star Marcus Stokes in transfer portal

Stokes was one of the best players in Division II, tallying 3,664 yards & 40 TDs this season. He is a finalist for the Harlon Hill award, which is the equivalent of the Heisman.

Since entering the portal, Stokes has heard from plenty of schools.

Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt expected to transfer

The portal is set to receive one of its top overall players in Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt, as Leavitt is expected to be on the move, according to PHNX Sports. Leavitt helped push the Sun Devils to a surprise Big 12 championship in 2024 and started 2025 strong before undergoing season-ending surgery. Still only 20, Leavitt's name has been floated as a potential first-round draft prospect in 2027.

Notre Dame's Kenny Minchey plans to enter portal

Notre Dame backup QB Kenny Minchey will enter the portal, On3 reports. Minchey lost a preseason battle with CJ Carr and threw only 26 passes in 2025. With Carr in line to start again in 2026, Minchey will seek an opportunity to compete to start elsewhere as he enters his redshirt junior season.

Texas backup Trey Owens headed to portal

Texas backup QB Trey Owens will hit the portal, On3 reports, after spending 2025 behind Arch Manning. While Manning's status for 2026 isn't yet clear, Owens was a four-star recruit in 2024 and will head into his redshirt sophomore season looking for a chance to compete for a starting job elsewhere.

Utah backup QB Isaac Wilson heads to portal

Utah QB Isaac Wilson will hit the portal, per Hayes Fawcett. Wilson didn't see the field much, playing in only one game. He attempted just one pass, but it fell incomplete. He is the younger brother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

North Carolina QB Max Johnson plans to enter portal

Journeyman QB Max Johnson is entering the transfer portal and will petition the NCAA for a seventh year of eligibility. Johnson, who started games for LSU as early as 2020, appeared in four games at North Carolina as Gio Lopez's backup this season, but major injuries have largely kept him off the field in recent years. With four or fewer games played in three of his six seasons, Johnson will hope to gain an additional year of eligibility and play out his age-25 campaign elsewhere.

Thursday, Dec. 4

Boston College QB Dylan Lonergan entering portal

Boston College's Dylan Lonergan is set to enter the transfer portal after an ugly season in Chestnut Hill. Lonergan actually started out the season strong, but he was benched in October before returning to the starting role for a Boston College team that just couldn't find ways to win. A former Alabama backup, Lonergan completed 66.9 percent of passes for 2,025 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2025.

Wednesday, Dec. 3

UCF starter Tayven Jackson entering portal

UCF's Tayven Jackson will enter the transfer portal after spending most of the season as the Knights' starter. A former Indiana backup who started his career at Tennessee, Jackson threw for 2,151 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2025. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
