Trae Young trade rumors get major update as Hawks star makes desires clear

The Atlanta Hawks lost in the NBA Play-In Tournament against the Miami Heat. In turn, the Hawks fired general manager Landry Fields and are moving in a different direction in that front office role.

As such, questions have been swirling about the future of star point guard Trae Young. The former Oklahoma Sooners guard has seen his name discussed in trade rumors for quite some time, and with the Hawks in the middle of a youthful rebuild, moving him for assets could make sense.

After the Play-In Tournament ended, NBA insider Chris Haynes hopped on The Dan Patrick Show and discussed the trade rumors involving Young. However, the Hawks superstar has made it clear he wants to stay put and ride it out.

"(Young) said he’s in a good spot," Haynes said. "He said he knew there was going to be speculation once the Hawks went to a younger core. Had the number one pick, he knew there was going to be speculation about his future. He said he bought in, he took the number one pick. Brought him to his hometown in Oklahoma to show him around and spend some time with him right after he was drafted to get him engaged. So, he’s somebody who, again, just told me a week, a week-and-a-half ago, that he’s down with the process. He wants to see this Atlanta Hawks squad turn the corner and he wants to be a pivotal part in that."

For now, it certainly seems that Young wants to ride it out in Atlanta, the team he has been with for his entire NBA career. Young, who turns 27 in September, is still one of the top players in the Eastern Conference, and he is hoping the patience pans out in his favor.
