Tottenham weigh up fresh attempt to land highly-rated Premier League attacker

Tottenham Hotspur interest in Manchester City winger Savinho hasn’t gone away as Thomas Frank continues to search for January reinforcements.

Spurs have enjoyed a strong start under their new coach, collecting 10 points from their opening five league matches, including a 2-0 win against Manchester City and also winning their Champions League opener against Villarreal.

However, despite this success there are reports that Frank wants further depth to sustain challenges on multiple fronts.

Savinho was on Tottenham’s radar during the summer but Manchester City refused to sanction an exit with Pep Guardiola reportedly making it clear that he valued the Brazilian and wanted him to remain at the Etihad Stadium for the season.

However, Savinho’s limited minutes in recent weeks have left questions about his role and future.

And according to the transfer insider Dean Jones Spurs remain alert to the winger’s availability.

“Spurs are still keeping an eye on Savinho, knowing that he wanted the move in the summer,” Jones said [via Teamtalk}

“His minutes recently are not very convincing at City. Guardiola told him he wants him to stay but Savinho needs to see how he fits in.

“The next couple of matches should bring more game time for him and will be a better chance to assess where he is at – but it is the case that Tottenham would revisit in January if they saw the chance to do so.”

Spurs are also weighing up triggering their £26m [$35m] option to sign midfielder Joao Palhinha permanently from Bayern Munich in January.
