Tottenham Hotspur all set to battle Chelsea for Premier League star winger

7 hours ago 2

Tottenham Hotspur haven't been very active in the summer transfer window. Until now, they have only made Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso's moves permanent. They have also secured the services of Japanese sensation Kota Takai.

But they haven't addressed their issues of goal-scoring, something they suffered last season. Thomas Frank went after his former player, Bryan Mbuemo, but he is more inclined to join Man United.

So, Spurs have shifted their focus to West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus as per reports via Matt Law.

Tottenham have a genuine interest in the Ghana international winger. The winger is high on their priority list. They have reportedly initiated contacts with the player's agents, but they need to fend off interest from other clubs, including Chelsea.

The 24-year-old is all set to move out of the London Stadium this summer, and Spurs are confident that they can sign the Ghanaian for much less than his lofty £85m release clause.

The Hammers are also open to selling the former Ajax star to raise funds this summer, and there are plenty of suitors for the winger.

Where could Mohammed Kudus end up this summer?

Kudus began his youth career at Ghana's Right to Dream academy and stayed there for eight years before moving to Danish outfit, Nordsjælland, in 2018.

He eventually joined Dutch outfit Ajax a couple of years later. His career took an upward curve after moving to the Netherlands.

He developed into a ferocious goalscoring winger at Ajax. He had a memorable 2022/23 campaign where he scored 18 goals in 42 matches across competitions.

Kudus moved to the Premier League when West Ham signed him in 2023. He replicated that form for the Hammers in his first season, netting 14 goals in 45 appearances for the London outfit.

But his stocks went down last season as he only scored four goals in 35 appearances.

Although Chelsea are interested in the 24-year-old, the Blues are stacked with players in attack, and it would be tough for Kudus to find gametime at Stamford Bridge.

Whereas Tottenham could be his destination this summer, as Frank is looking to strengthen the flanks. Kudus may well be the starter for the Lilywhites for the 2025/26 season if he decides to move to North London.
