Four softball titles in Illinois were awarded earlier in the month.
In Class 4A of the Illinois High School Association’s “State Series” championship games at Peoria, Oswego posted a 4-1 win against Barrington. Then in Class 3A, Chatham (Glenwood) outlasted New Lenox (Providence Catholic), 3-2, in eight innings.
Beecher took home the Class 2A title with another game that went extras, prevailing 5-2 in 10 innings against Carterville. Then in Class 1A, Carrollton picked up a 10-0 five-inning run-rule win against LeRoy.
Here are several of the top standouts who led their respective teams to IHSA softball titles:
Top performers from 2025 IHSA softball championship games
Jaelynn Anthony, Oswego: Anthony was the winning pitcher in the Class 4A title game - raising her season record to 22-1 - and allowed one unearned run on four hits over seven complete innings. She also struck out eight. Anthony also had a hit and drew two walks at the plate.
Aubriella Garza, Oswego: Garza went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Panthers.
Kiyah Chavez, Oswego: Chavez had a base hit and also recorded seven put-outs and an assist from her catching position.
Irie Lohrenz, Glenwood: Lohrenz drove in the winning run of the Class 3A title game with an RBI single in the top of the eighth. She was also the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on seven hits over eight innings and striking out three in finishing 22-1 on the season.
Sophia Feld, Glenwood: Feld went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Titans.
Ava Bobb, Glenwood: Bobb had a base hit and scored a run, while recording three put-outs and two assists at shortstop.
Taylah Scanlan, Beecher: Scanlan broke a 2-all score with an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning of the Class 2A title game for the victorious Bobcats.
Ava Lorenzatti, Beecher: Lorenzatti was 2-for-4, including a two-RBI home run in the top of the sixth that tied the score at 2-all. She was also the starting pitcher and struck out five over five innings.
Taylor Norkus, Beecher: Norkus pitched the final five innings in relief and allowed only one hit while striking out nine.
Lauren Flowers: Carrollton: Flowers finished her season 20-0 after a four-hit five-inning shutout in the Class 1A title game. She also struck out six, and also went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of runs scored on offense.
Hannah Uhles, Carrollton: Uhles was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs in the Lady Hawks’ title triumph.
Brookelyn Ellerman, Carrollton: Ellerman was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored.
