Top 3 draft needs for New York Giants in 2026 after trade deadline

The New York Giants have struggled to rack up wins this season, entering Week 11 of the 2025 campaign with a 2-8 record after another fourth-quarter collapse against the Chicago Bears. Despite entering the final period with a 20-10 advantage, they lost 24-20 against Caleb Williams and Co.

They were quiet ahead of the trade deadline, and now the focus shifts to free agency and the 2026 draft. The Giants have an intriguing group of players that could compete in the future, but the front office still needs to make some moves to build around rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.

1. More help to the offensive line

The New York Giants' offensive line has been a constant headache for fans for several years now. Many think that played a big role in Daniel Jones' struggles in MetLife Stadium. While Jaxson Dart has played like a veteran, the Giants' offensive line remains a source of concern for many within and outside the organization.

Against the Bears, the pass protection was solid, with only 10 pressures and one sack allowed against a good defensive line. They can always improve the offensive line, and that should be their No. 1 priority in next year's draft.

2. Another wide receiver to complement Malik Nabers

Malik Nabers was a big hit in the 2024 NFL Draft, but one man alone couldn't save the franchise. The second-year wide receiver was limited to just four games this season after suffering a devastating knee injury in Week 4 against the LA Chargers.

Nabers has posted 127 receptions on 205 targets for 1,475 yards and nine touchdowns in 19 career games. Adding a capable WR2 would take the Giants to the next level. Fans couldn't see much of the Nabers-Dart partnership this season and that should excite them for next season.

3. Boost the secondary

While they have one of the scariest defensive fronts in the NFL, the New York Giants' secondary isn't as talented. They need to make some changes to stop opposing offenses, and cornerback Deonte Banks may be out of the starting lineup soon. Despite being a first-round pick in 2023, Banks has failed to make an impact on the team.

At 24, he can still improve and play at the level he's expected to play, but the New York Giants could look at the options coming out of college to bolster their ranks. There is a shortage of good cornerbacks in the league and the Giants are suffering from that, too.
