Sixteen of the teams ranked in the latest edition of The Sporting News High School Basketball Top 25 will be in action Friday, including all of the nation's top four frontrunners.
No. 1 SPIRE Academy National knocked off Bergen Catholic, 69-59, Thursday on the opening day of the Metro Classic in New Jersey, and the undefeated Ohioans will take on College Achieve on Friday in their second of three contests at the event.
No. 2 AZ Compass Prep and No. 4 Link Academy, meanwhile, are participating in the Nike EYBL Western Maryland Classic in Maryland. Both teams won their openers at the Maryland event Thursday with AZ Compass Prep steamrolling CATS Academy, 74-54, and Link Academy surviving a 63-59 slugfest vs. La Lumiere.
AZ Compass Prep was scheduled to play North Carolina's Christ School on Friday, but that game is listed as postponed on the Nike EYBL website. Link Academy's contest with CATS Academy is still scheduled for a 5:45 p.m. EST tip.
No. 3 Brewster Academy National, meanwhile, will play a true road game at Northfield Mount Hermon's campus in Gill, Massachusetts.
The only other Top 10 team originally scheduled to be in action Friday was No. 8 Paul VI, but the Panthers' game vs. Our Lady of Good Counsel has been postponed.
