Throughout last season, the Cleveland Browns dealt with a lot of adversity, and most of it was due to how fans felt Kevin Stefanski treated Shedeur Sanders. Fans weren't the only ones to feel that way, as former and current NFL players have also been on record saying similar things.
Leonard Fournette didn’t hold back when discussing how Stefanski handled Sanders, questioning why a potential franchise quarterback wasn’t given more opportunity.
“[The situation with Stefanski] bothers me,” he said on “Fourth & South.” “The sh** he had going on with Shedeur. If you have a guy there who could be your franchise maker, that can change the organization… And I’m not sure why [Stefanski] didn’t want to play him. But I got a problem with coaches like that.”
There are a few ways to look at how Stefanski handled Sanders last year, but much of it also needs some context. It wasn't like Sanders came in at the end of last season and was incredible. In Stefanski's defense, he was also coaching for his job, which was evident at the end of the season when the Browns decided to move on.
It's also fair to question whether Sanders is actually a franchise quarterback like some believe, as he didn't show that last season.
