Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh is set to kick off on Thursday, and one of the biggest questions of the draft is where Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love will land.
Love is the consensus top running back in this year's class and should be a top-ten pick.
One franchise that Love has been frequently connected to over the last few months is the Tennessee Titans, who sit at pick 4 and could add a dynamic offensive weapon for young quarterback Cam Ward. However, despite all the speculation, it sounds like the Titans may end up passing on Love with their fourth overall choice.
Titans unlikely to take Love
An NFL executive told Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom that he believes the Titans will select a defensive player with their first-round pick.
"They’re going defense," one longtime NFL personnel executive said to La Canfora. "I love the running back [Love], but Saleh isn’t taking a running back there. If you study how this plays out, with a new head coach, that first pick is almost always on his side of the ball."
Additionally, an anonymous general manager told La Canfora he would be surprised if the Titans drafted a running back, referring to Love.
"I’d be really surprised if they went running back," a general manager said to La Canfora.
If Tennessee does pass on Love, it is fantastic news for the New York Giants and Washington Commanders.
New York is reportedly interested in Love and wouldn't pass on him if he's available at pick 5. A backfield of Love and Cam Skattebo would be the perfect combo to support quarterback Jaxson Dart.
If Love somehow falls past the Giants, Washington could be where he lands. The Commanders' run game is solid with Jacory Croskey-Merritt as the starter, but Love would take it to another level.
Overall, Tennessee could still select Love with their first-round pick, but there's also a chance they opt for defense instead, leading to the electric running back falling to the Giants or Commanders.
