Allow me to introduce the bucket kittens. From left to right, they are Liza, Farkleberry, Aslan, and Quince. I may have gotten the gingers mixed up but I tried.

These little ones are very lucky to be alive today. A few days ago, they were found very nearly dead in a large bucket, but as you can see they're rallying and there's a good chance they'll live long, happy lives, though of course it's impossible to be sure at this point.

They were found because little Aslan (the panther) somehow managed to climb out of the bucket. This may not seem super impressive, so allow me to explain why it is. These kittens are

  • It is always the black cats who get the job done in the end isnt it. When push comes to shove, you can only depend on a black cat. Tuxedo cats are more focused on their formal events. Orange cattos are more useless than a candle when fixing a door nob. And the gray kitties seem to simply not care for anything that goes on around them.

roughly 2-3 weeks old and at that age they're wobbly and awkward when trying to walk on flat ground and not on the verge of death, for one to climb out of a bucket that was about 2-3 feet tall is insane.

Once out of the bucket, little Aslan somehow navigated many obstacles that would be very difficult for a kitten that she, especially given how week he was. Finding what he decided was

a good spot, he began crying as loud as he possibly could. Luckily, a kindhearted person noticed him, and searched the barn until they found the others. Once he'd located all four of them, they promptly called the TinyKittens cat rescue and TNR organization.

It was touch and go for several days, but now they seem to have decided to hold on and are doing much better. Brave little Aslan saved his family with his strength and determination to live.

I am not affiliated with TinyKittens in any way. I simply follow them, and I felt that this wonderful story needed to be shared.

CatsOfElsweyr ⚫ Top 1% Commenter We run a h ce for wonky cats and stories like these really warm my heart. Little trooper decided he was going to save everyone.

  • You are darn right he did Cats Of Elsweyr, and if anyone would know about being determined to live it would be you. What heartwarming and heartbreaking feline stories this commenter must have. Honestly, we are somewhat thankful they have not shared stories of their own, that might be a bit too much after the emotional rollercoaster of this story.

Glatog⚫ I had the bucket o'kittens I raised 8 years ago! They were about a week old and left in a bucket, with the lid on, at the vet overnight. The vet staff came in the next morning to find the bucket in front of the door with four nearly dead black kittens.

Got some sugar water on their gums and sent out the sos for bottle feeders.

  • 13

I drove 40 minutes to get them. Ended up needing to learn how to tube feed. We almost lost one, but thankfully, they all made it. I have two of them still, and the other two went to their forever home together.

Here's hoping that your bucket kittens have long, happy lives now, too.

them. Although fully capable of jumping, Aslan still loves to pull himself up our furniture and his scratching post instead of jumping.

Alarmed-Shape5034⚫ And you can still see the determination in little Aslan's face to this very day.

frolicndetour ⚫ Oh my gosh, I love tiny voids and this little sweetheart is such a good kitty!

FlowerFaerie13 OP⚫ It was so sweet, like he was really fighting for his life there. He was so tiny, so weak, so helpless, but he summoned the last vestiges of his strength to climb out of the bucket and yell for help until someone found him because he was determined to live. I actually cried lol.
