A return to game action appears imminent for Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

After missing six straight games for the Timberwolves due to knee soreness, Edwards is expected to return for the Wolves when they play the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

From Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic

"All signs are pointing to Edwards returning Monday in Dallas, giving the Timberwolves a needed jolt as the playoffs near. Edwards has been doing individual work at the team’s practice facility this week and was cleared by the team Friday for all on-court basketball activities.

"He still has to go through a workout Sunday and shootaround Monday before being cleared for game action, but his teammates walked out of Target Center on Saturday evening believing they would see him in uniform sooner rather than later."

Edwards' return comes at a good time for the Wolves, who are in the midst of a tight battle for playoff positioning in the Western Conference. Minnesota currently sits fifth in the standings, but they hold just a half-game lead over the Houston Rockets

On the season, Edwards is averaging 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per performance. He has appeared in 58 games, so he'll need to appear in at least seven more games to hit the NBA's 65-game threshold for award and All-NBA eligibility. Minnesota has eight games remaining.
