Tigers predicted to offer two-years, $30 million to $66 million two-time All-Star to upgrade from Zach McKinstry

The Detroit Tigers’ brutal exit from the playoffs will hopefully make them target one thing this offseason: more offense. They scored just 13 runs over five games and spoiled both starts for their ace, Tarik Skubal.

While someone like the Boston Red Sox’ Alex Bregman may be outside their comfort zone when it comes to payment, Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller believes they can pilfer someone just as good offensively from the team that just eliminated them: Seattle Mariners’ Eugenio Suarez.

“A right-handed slugger at third base would be a major addition for the Tigers. Ponying up the dough for Alex Bregman probably isn't feasible, but two years of Suárez for $30 million total is surely doable,” Miller wrote.

This season, Suarez finished slashing .228/.298/.526/.824 with 28 doubles, 49 home runs, and 118 RBI in 159 games played. While he had a terrible second-half average-wise, he still hit double-digit home runs.

A return to Detroit might be exactly what Suarez needs, as he came up with the Tigers. Now, they need a power bat to knock runs in, and that’s exactly what Suarez is good at. Plus, with his down numbers after the deadline, the Tigers could offer that contract Miller predicted, and he’d most likely take it.

Hopefully, the Tigers do get in contact with the slugger and see if he would like to help Detroit finally get over the hump.
