The Detroit Tigers have one of the best rookies in Major League Baseball in Kevin McGonigle this year, as he's been on a tear through the beginning of the season.
While Munetaka Murakami and Sal Stewart have been incredible this season, McGonigle has been the best rookie in baseball, according to a recent poll of MLB executives from MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
One rival American League executive shared their opinion of McGonigle, as he boldly claimed the Tigers' rookie looks like a "seasoned All-Star caliber player" right now, and even since his MLB debut.
Tigers' Kevin McGonigle looks like an All-Star already
"He looks like a seasoned All-Star-caliber player on Day 1," one American League exec said. Feinsand shared another voter for McGonigle as MLB's best rookie, who simply explained his vote with two words: "He rakes."
McGongile has been awesome this season. He's a versatile defender, playing both third base and shortstop for the Tigers this season.
But his best work comes as a hitter. Across 116 at-bats, McGonigle has a .328 batting average with 38 hits, 22 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples (leads AL), two homers, 13 RBIs, two stolen bases, 19 walks, and just 17 strikeouts with a .935 OPS.

Overall, McGonigle has been one of the best players in the Majors this season. His 2.0 bWAR so far is tied for the most in the Majors among position players, and surely has McGonigle in much more than the Rookie of the Year race.
He's making a serious case so far for an MVP award. While it will be hard to surpass Aaron Judge, Ben Rice, and potentially even Mike Trout, the 21-year-old rookie infielder is making a strong bid for multiple end-of-season awards.
These anonymous rival AL executives appreciate McGonigle a lot already, as the Tigers' rookie infielder was named the best rookie so far this season.
