Tigers head football coach Brian Kelly breaks a personal seven-season long streak after LSU's third consecutive loss

2 hours ago 1

College Football Report shared an intriguing winning streak that Tigers head coach Brian Kelly has been boasting about since 2017, until this Saturday: Kelly had at least 10 games each season since 2017, a streak that broke this season as LSU lost a 27-16 game against Florida, going 6-4 for the season.

"Brian Kelly has won 10+ games every year since 2017, that streak is now officially over," College Football Report tweeted.

LSU only has two games remaining; against Vanderbilt next week, and against Oklahoma the following week. Even if Kelly somehow wins both of these games, which isn't looking too likely for LSU given their last few games, he'll still end his season at 8-4 -- a first since 2017.

During his time at Notre Dame until 2021, Kelly fought for his record and reputation, which he continued to do at LSU from 2022. This season, however, things have taken an ugly turn for Kelly; with the team losing thrice, against Texas A&M (38-23), Alabama (42-13), and Florida (27-16) consecutively.

Tigers head football coach Brian Kelly is on the hot seat amidst LSU's failures

Tigers' fans are outraged with Kelly's lousy performance this season, to put it nicely. Kelly is already on the hot seat for them as they storm the social media with calls to fire him.

However, Kelly has some top recruits coming to LSU in the 2025 class. Top 5-star QB prospect like Bryce Underwood, a recruit who has several top teams hot on his trail, is in talks with LSU.

If Kelly can't manage to get Underwood at LSU despite the fierce competition from Michigan, he might as well get fired.

So, while Kelly might not have this season's records to protect his job, he still has a shot at making things right by having a best-in-the-country Class of 2025.
