Tigers get positive injury update on 2.57 ERA reliever

While the Detroit Tigers don't have the best bullpen in baseball, it's still been very good for them in 2025. Their bullpen ranks 14th in ERA allowed in 2025 with a 3.76 ERA. But after the team's top reliever went down with a finger injury, there was a lot of concern over the bullpen in Detroit.

However, in an update from Evan Woodbery of MLive Media Group on Twitter/X, Tigers reliever Will Vest got a very positive update on his finger issue. Vest reportedly went through testing and received treatment afterwards on his injury afterward.

RHP Will Vest said he went through tests and then got treatment on the off day and feels good to go today. No concerns, no IL stint.

Vest said that he feels good to pitch today (Tuesday, June 17th) for the Tigers series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates. More importantly, there are no overall concerns with his injury, and no injured list stint is planned.

From what could've been a scary injury, to being okay in the matter of days, the tigers dodged a bullet. Vest is their best reliever in 2025, and losing him would've been a big blow.

In 2025, Vest has a 2.57 ERA and a 5-1 record. He's accumulated 0.9 WAR and is on track to surpass his previous seasons in Detroit. Vest has 37 strikeouts in 2025 through 35 innings of work. He's notched 12 saves and is one of the most important pieces on the Tigers' roster in 2025.

This injury update is huge and is great news for the Tigers and Vest. Not having to lose him to the injured list, or for an extended period, is a sigh of relief for the organization and the city.
