Detroit Tigers ace Framber Valdez has received an update on the earlier six-game suspension levied by MLB. The suspension came after his controversial incident with the Boston Red Sox slugger Trevor Story.
Upon possible appeal or at the discretion of MLB, Valdez's suspension has reportedly been reduced to five games. It is uncertain whether the Tigers ace appealed for the reduction.
Earlier, MLB deemed the dangerous pitch from Valdez intentional even though the Tigers ace categorically denied, saying it came out of his hand. The league also fined Valdez but the amount was not shared.

In his latest start against the Red Sox, Framber Valdez was having a pretty rough day. After allowing back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning, Trevor Story came out to bat. Valdez struck Story with a fastball near the head, which triggered a benches-clearing incident between the Tigers and the Red Sox.
The Tigers' ace was immediately ejected from the game after he pitched the worst outing of his career, allowing 10 runs in just over three innings.
The incident also led MLB to fine Tigers manager AJ Hinch for one game, along with an undisclosed fine. This means Hinch won't be present in the Tigers' dugout for their game on Wednesday against the Red Sox.
