Widely considered as legendary golfer, Tiger Woods has a history of hiring expert swing instructors and coaches. One of his former coaches recently expressed his take on PGA Tour and LIV Golf's co-existence.

Woods enjoyed an incredible run in the early 2000s, when he rose to eminence with his athleticism, records, and charisma. However, the Cypress native needed some improvement on his swing later on, and that's when he hired Hank Haney.

Haney, now a popular swing instructor, stays quite active on X (previously Twitter), and engages on different matters across a variety of fields.

This week, the RBC Canadian Open and LIV Golf Virginia are taking place. Both these golf competitions comprise popular faces from the professional circuit. Tiger Woods' ex-coach reacted to a post that compared the leaderboards from the PGA Tour event and the LIV Golf contest. Take a look at what Haney said in his post.

"Plenty of room for both, it’s a big world"

Haney's tweet comes during a time of divide that the Saudi PIF-backed golf league has brought along with its arrival. The post by Tiger Woods' former coach emphasizes coexistence as LIV's leaderboard exhibits numerous major champions, and the PGAT event doesn't.

Haney and Woods shared a six-year long journey starting from 2004. In that period, Haney helped improve Woods' swing arc, and focused on reducing the pressure on his body. From 2004 to 2010, Tiger won six major championships and 31 PGA Tour events.

Under Haney's tenure, Woods won the 2008 U.S. Open in Torrey Pines with a fractured left tibia and torn ACL.

Tiger Woods' former coach on his favourite LIV Golf player

Hank Haney's presence and interactions on social media regarding golf topics speaks for his interest in the sport. Despite the ongoing issues between LIV and PGA, his passion for the sport seems to outshine the existing divide.

In May 2025, shortly after the PGA Championship ended, Tiger Woods' former coach praised one popular face on the LIV roster. In a tweet, he hailed Bryson DeChambeau for aligning with biomechanical principles and adjusting his grip at Quail Hollow.

As per the post, The Scientist made his grip lighter, which was done to avoid over-drawing irons, a factor that cost him the 2025 Masters title.

"Wow. Smart move to weaken his grip at the PGA, @brysondech is my favorite player to watch, all the greats work hard and he out works all the greats"

Haney and Woods' relationship came to a straining end in 2010, and the former later wrote about his experiences with the latter. Over the years, Haney has publicly praised the legendary golfer on a number of occasions.
