Tiger Woods will be turning 50 years old on this year's December 30, making him eligible to compete in the Champions Tour. The renowned golfer has been out of competitive tournaments for a long time, and there are rumors that Woods will make a direct comeback to the Champions Tour. While the thought of this happening seems nice, some analysts claim this can be bad for the PGA Tour.
TW Legion recently shared an X post regarding Golf Week's new report, which claims that many golf analysts and experts believe that if Tiger Woods joins the Champions Tour, the PGA Tour event will be overshadowed. Woods is without a doubt one of the most popular golfers in the world, and on the Champions Tour, he has the potential to reignite his old rivalries, which can be a significant deal for golf fans.
Talking about the X post from TW Legion, it read,
"🚨🐅👀 #NEW — Golfweek reports that some players and analysts have concerns that Tiger’s arrival on the Champions Tour could overshadow or devalue regular PGA Tour events."Tiger Woods had an emergency surgery in March 2025 for a ruptured Achilles tendon on his right leg. This injury kept him out of the game for months, and when the rumors of his return began to circulate, he had back surgery in October 2025. According to reports, Woods underwent this back surgery to replace a collapsed lumbar disc (L4/L5), along with other disc fragments and a damaged spinal canal.
There is no set timeframe for Woods' prospective return, but numerous analysts believe that when the 82-time PGA Tour winner returns, he should join the Champions Tour, as the tour's president is also ready for the big golfer.
President Miller Brady has "put together a plan" for Tiger Woods
TGL presented by SoFi: JUP v ATL - Source: GettyMiller Brady, president of the Champions Tour, recently revealed that he has been arranging Tiger Woods' arrival on the tour for almost a year. Brady warned that with Woods on board, ticket sales will skyrocket, necessitating significant security measures. Not only that, but the convenience for so many individuals would need to be improved.
Brady stated,
"We've talked about it for a year now, where we put together a plan. We know things would be different. Ticket sales would increase, we'd have to increase our security, increase the number of concession stands and the porta-potties that are out there. I mean, the media center would be expanded, like everything would just be ramped up, not just a notch, probably a couple notches, but we're ready."Later, Miller Brady stated that he believes they are prepared and that a lot of whiteboarding has been completed, so that when Woods arrives to play, the events will be ready.
