Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes 'desperate' admission after Game 2 blowout win

The Denver Nuggets stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinal round. Aaron Gordon hit the game-winning 3-pointer on Monday night to give the Nuggets the first win of the series.

However, Game 2 was the complete opposite. The Thunder scored 45 first-quarter points and 42 second-quarter points to put up a bonkers 87-point first-half score.

The Thunder cruised to an easy 149-106 win as eight OKC players finished in double figures.

Every single starter had double digits in points, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 34 points with eight assists in just 30 minutes.

It was a much different effort from OKC than two days prior, and the Thunder star revealed the team's mindset.

"We knew what was at stake tonight. We came out desperate. We wanted to just take care and control the things we knew we could, and we did a pretty good job of that," Gilgeous-Alexander stated in the postgame press conference.

The Thunder had a 60-50 lead in Game 1 before the Nuggets scored 71 points in the second half to escape with the win in stunning fashion, but this was a total 180 for the young OKC team.

The Thunder shot 56 percent from the field, 44 percent from three, and 91 percent from the free throw line in an unworldly performance, so there seemed to be extra motivation on Wednesday.

Whether or not it can continue remains to be seen, but the Thunder now bring the series to Denver with it all tied at 1-1.
