The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Indianapolis Colts to open up the preseason, and they did it in somewhat electric fashion, as their special teams had multiple explosive plays and their defense didn't allow a touchdown until the third quarter.
With that said, several Ravens had standout performances that all but secured themselves spots on the roster come September.
WR LaJohntay Wester
The rookie sixth-round pick out of Colorado had the play of the game, returning a punt 87 yards for a touchdown. In addition to that, Wester had two receptions for 41 yards, including a 30 yard catch. Considering the explosiveness he showed in the return game, it's hard to believe he won't have a spot on the 53-man roster ahead of Week 1.
RB Rasheen Ali
Ali won't see a ton of offensive touches, as Derrick Henry and Keaton Mitchell will be the top two backs for Baltimore, but he also made a big splash play in the return game by returning a kickoff 69 yards. He also had 37 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Even if he doesn't get a 53-man roster spot, he certainly has a practice squad spot locked down.
LB Jay Higgins
The rookie out of Iowa very surprisingly went undrafted despite being an All-American. He made a splash right away picking off a Riley Leonard pass in the second half. While he may be seen as a bit undersized, the instincts of Higgins are what made him a star with the Hawkeyes, and he could appear in some regular season games in 2025.
