Conversations surrounding the salaries of WNBA players have proliferated in recent weeks during the build-up to the WNBA Draft on April 14 and the beginning of the season next month. As many fans now undoubtedly know, Caitlin Clark will make $78,066 during her second season with the Indiana Fever — and that's definitely not money to look down on.
But it turns out that someone else in the league will be making a whole lot more, and this time we aren't talking about veteran WNBA players. According to the Daily Mail, Clark's salary works out to roughly $40/hour if translated to a standard 40-hour week (again: not something to complain about).
The Golden State Valkyries, the newest team in the WNBA, are in the process of hiring an important member of their squad: the individual who will attend games and media events as the team's mascot. A job posting shared by Front Office Sports indicates the mascot will be paid $130-160 an hour — an incredible opportunity for the right person.
Though that hourly wage is higher than the one the Daily Mail came up with Clark, it's worth noting the mascot for the Valkyries isn't likely to spend quite as much time on the court as the actual players in the WNBA will.
