The last two quarters were preposterous. Somehow, in the biggest game the Knicks have played in a quarter century, by far the biggest group this group of Knicks have ever played together, this is what you had at Madison Square Garden:
You had a 24-minute victory lap.
You had 19,812 people taking part in a sing-a-long during the 3 ½-minute break between the third and fourth quarter,: all of them crooning “New York, New York” like they were all Chairmen-in-training. And maybe most remarkable of all, you had Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla clearing his bench, playing his scrubs.
Playing his scrubs. In an ELIMINATION GAME.
