After Nico Harrison was dismissed as GM of the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, team owner Patrick Dumont posted an open letter to the Mavs fanbase. In the letter, Dumont explained that he signed off on the decision to fire Harrison because "results don't meet expectations" as of the moment for the struggling Mavs (3-8).
Though fans have expressed their delight to see Harrison getting dismissed, some of them weren't so happy with what Dumont had to say in his open letter.

What happened between May 30, 2024 and the start of the 2025-26, Patrick? who gave the final approval for the trade?
I don’t buy it, Dumont should have fired Nico the second he walked in the door and suggested trading Luka. It goes beyond trading a franchise player, Luka connected with the heart and the soul of Dallas fans. Anyone who knows anything about sport could see that.
Purposely left out anything regarding the Luka trade
Some fans even expressed sympathy for Harrison despite his role in the controversial Luka Doncic trade.

Viral tweet claims to reveal details about Patrick Dumont's interaction with fan at courtside
The night before Harrison's dismissal, Dumont was spotted at courtside during the Mavericks' home game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Notably, he was seen sitting next to a fan wearing Doncic's Lakers jersey.
As per a viral tweet by MFFL Nation, Dumont reportedly had a heart-to-heart conversation with this fan.
"Just spoke with the fan that sat next to Patrick Dumont tonight," the tweet read. "He said that Dumont told him: He felt bad for the Luka trade; what he did wasn’t in the best interest of the franchise; he made a mistake and he’s trying to rectify it; wants to win back the fanbase."If this viral tweet is accurate, Dumont's decision to let go of Harrison could be part of his efforts to "rectify" certain moves over the past several months.
